basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News It's All Texas The Texas Rangers opened up their season against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. It was a good pitchers matchup as well, with the talented lefty Kenny Rogers going against fireballer Bartolo Colon. The Rangers showed how powerful their bats were hitting five homeruns. The biggest of the five came from Leftfielder Kevin Mench, who hit one in the 9th inning against K-Rod, which gave the Rangers a win. The Angels did put up a fight until the 9th inning, when closer Francisco Cordero shut them down. Rogers, who started the game pitched decent, going 6.2 inning, allowing five and with three strikeouts, he got a no decision. The Rangers hope to take advantage of the series going into game two. The matchup is Chris Young vs. Jarrod Washburn. They are a good enough team that you can easily make the playoffs if u play it right. I was posting it, but nobody really followed it so i just stopped posting. but it looks like this one will be popular.
basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News Rangers Fall Short in a Heartbreaker Texas Rangers' youngster Chris Young pitched a excellent game, but lost it due to costly mistake pitches which the Angels ripped. The Rangers striked first with a 2 run shot from Gary Matthews, Jr. but that was all the run support Young would get. Young did pitch a complete game, but it just wasn't enough for a Rangers victory. Steve Finley hit a HR in the bottom of the 5th inning which tied the game. Young had the bats quiet until the 8th inning when Chone Figgins hit a sacrifice fly to the centerfielder Gary Matthews, Jr. which scored Jeff DaVanon. Matthews, Jr. had a strong throw to homeplate, but it just wasn't enough to keep DaVanon from scoring. The Rangers hope to take the series and roll along the AL West division. basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News Angels Are In The Outfield Angels really do exist in the outfield. The Angels outfielders were making Gold Glove plays, making it look like it was nothing. The Angels started the game off with big hits, in the 1st inning they had bases loaded and Garrett Anderson hit a ground rule double which scored two runs. Chan Ho Park was taged up for 6 runs on 12 hits. Angels superstar Vladimir Guerrero was on fire, going 4 for 5. Good News for Texas is that Michael Young continues his 3 game hitting streak, hitting a HR in the 4th inning. Kelvim Escobar only allowed 3 hits and 2 of the hits were Homeruns. The Rangers take on the Seattle Mariners in the next series. basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News Rangers Going Back to Back The Rangers went back to back in homeruns, it was their 1st of the season. Hank Blalock started it with a two run HR and then Alfonso Soriano followed with a solo shot. The game was all Rangers, shutting out the Mariners. Rangers starter Pedro Astacio allowed no runs on 9 hits, he was lights out and the Mariners couldn't bring together a run. But bad news did occur in the 9th, Astacio left the game with a torn left shoulder muscle, and he's out for 40 days. The Rangers did put their bats on the balls, getting 4 runs on 10 hits. Good news for Rangers shortstop Michael Young, Young got a hit in the 7th to extend his hitting streak to 4 games. Rangers hope that Juan Dominguez can dominate the Mariners just like Astacio did. basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News Rangers Feel Jet Lag in Game 2 Texas Rangers couldn't stop the Mariners in game 2. Juan Dominguez wasn't on key, allowing 5 runs on 10 hits. In some games, the breaks seem to go in the Rangers way, and then there are days when all things seem to go right for the other team. That was the case in game 2 for the Rangers, the Mariners came back after Hank Blalock hit a HR in the 2nd, and after the 2nd it was all Seattle. It seems that the Mariners got all the breaks they needed in their 7-2 victory over Texas at Safeco Field. Michael Young's 4 game hitting streak was snapped after going 0-4 in the game. He had a decent shot at a hit in the 9th inning, but Bret Boone erased that thought with a stellar diving play at 2b. The Rangers desperately need to win game 3 to get back at .500. In the next game it'll be a lefty veteran matchup, with Kenny Rogers going against Jamie Moyer. basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News No Love For Mr. Rogers First inning jitters for Kenny Rogers really tired him out, and he just didn't have enough for a victory. The Mariners scored 3 runs in the 1st inning off a 4 hits. After the 1st inning Kenny Rogers was superb only allowing 1 run which came off the bat of Richie Sexson who laced a solo blast to rightfield. Jamie Moyer had the Rangers bats silenced until the 6th inning when Gary Matthews, Jr. beat out a throw from Adrian Beltre, who made a stellar defensive play but couldn't get the throw down. Mark Teixeira hit a solo blast to leftfield in the 7th inning which gave the Mariners a run, so they wouldn't leave Seattle with a shutout. The Rangers hope to rebound and get some love for the Rangers fans as they open up their homestand against the Los Angeles Angels. basballfanatik9
Dallas Morning News Young, Texas Ranger The Texas Rangers are back in business, beating the Los Angeles Angels 4-1. Chris Young was fabolous, striking out 8 batters, only allowing 1 run on 4 hits, and throwing a complete game. The Rangers had a spark from their leadoff spot, Alfonso Soriano was moved to leadoff before the game, and it looks as if he will stay there. Soriano went 3 for 5, with 2 HRs and 2 RBIs. Richard Hidalgo also blasted a HR giving the Rangers some insurance. Hank Blalock also contributed, as he played a big part of the Rangers hit and run, he placed the ball just over the Angels LF Garrett Anderson, which enabled Michael Young to score. The Rangers are very pleased with Young's performance and hopes he can stay this way throughout the season. The Rangers hope to get back at .500, as they take on the Angels in game 2.
