cybernetic
The game doesn't combine stats for players traded during the season to another team for the all-star game selections and may also effect the MVP at the end of the year example.. I acquired Paul Konerko from the White Sox in June and so far he has a combined 25 homers this season but he did not make the all-star team despite leading the league in homers and near the top in RBI Aaron Rowand also has 24 home runs and is 2nd in HR in the AL at the break and didn't make the all-star team either. Hory
Sounds pretty realistic to me, the All-Star teams are always a joke, last year Konerko didn't make it, yet Jason Giambi did... heck, look at the dumbass voting for this year, nomar's in third place among ss, pujols is ahead of d.lee in 1b voting
cybernetic
yeah well that's just the starting lineup.. the others should be selected based on performance

However, that is realistic, if someone is trading from NL to AL, they usualyy dont make the AllStar team (exception was last year, when they named Beltran after a public outcry)

cybernetic
u might be right but it's stupid.. he should've been the starting first baseman at the all-star game not Mike Sweeney.. the only thing against Konerko is that his batting average is only around .
slickmarcusvick
That might be it, but if your leading the AL in homers Konerko should make it along w/Rowand.
cb
Most of the time, the All Star voting is based on who is the most popular. It makes me sick. Why don't they just call it the NL/BOS-NYY All-Star Game?
cybernetic
yeah but it's in the game not real life and there were 4 guys from the Red Sox on the all-star team.. and only A-Rod from the Yankees

futzy99
I was pissed. Jose Reyes was leading the voting for NL SS (and Renteria was on there, too, for a while with a team of "NL". WTF?) but he wasn't starting, Nomar was in his place. Then I check, and he's not even playing! I was pissed! Reyes was the first on the list, but he didn't even make it! I guess they really do have snubs!

Fastflink2009
Thats what they do in real life i think, they reset the stats after someone is traded, but it doesn't effect their allstar chances
five
Only if it's between leagues. Also, in the game not all of the teams are represented, still just a 25 man roster.
cybernetic
I had 3 pitchers from my team in the all-star game
mvpmodder07
pujols is ahead of d.lee in 1b voting Thats close. D Lee is a stud player but Pujols is just as good....its worse thinking that Nomar is leading in SS voting.

low42
All all-star games are a joke, in any sport. What makes the MLB all-star game more pathetic than the rest is the winning league decides home-field advantage for the WS. What a croc. It's total BS. I have absolutely 0 interest in popularity contests, which is exactly what professional sports all-star games are and nothing more.
