rolliefingers08
All I have to do, for example in Jim's, is extract datafile.txt to the data/datafile directory and I don't have to mess with anything else? Just checking cause it seems too simple to me. Maybe that's good.
Spivey11
That's all you have to do bro! It's so easy even a caveman could do it. :wtg:
rolliefingers08
this will probably drastically effect my dynasty now. .... first to last maybe? thanks.
big shmooz
No that is not what you do..... You need to extract it to the data folder, not the datafile folder.
Stix
I was using one of K.S.M.'s camera mods(this may be a bit off topic but it still is near) an put it in the data folder. The mod worked for two games and then began to crash every time i went to play. I took out the mod and the game went back to being normal. Can someone help me on this? Did you duplicate the scenario when the game was crashing, to the way you played before the crashing started? The reason I ask this is because I am wondering if it's merely coincidence (the timing of it all)
big shmooz
this will probably drastically effect my dynasty now. .... first to last maybe? thanks. Actually it will not affect your dynasty at all. Any datafile you install after you start a dynasty will in fact have absolutely no effect, since the dynasty will not even recognize that you installed a datafile. The only time you will notice a difference is in exhibition games, or if you start a new dynasty after installing the datafile.

rolliefingers08
what about owner mode? because i've started a game and surely there is a difference because i've already noticed some of the changes. here's a new question on the situation... would you reccomend using sliders with a datafile, or only if i want to tweak it? like, i'm using pared's sliders with jim's datafile? good idea or bad? I think it has to do with the fact that once something is started the files used are different. hence adding a datafile doesn't change anything. Because the game is not reading it from what is added on later. However if you say you are noticing differences, perhaps owner mode functions differently. Personally I don't play that, so I can't be positive on how it works. As far as sliders. experiment & see what you like. It's all about personal preference anyway. rolliefingers08
yeah i think there has to have been some change, because for example there were more choppers hit, a few balls that died at the wall, etc.
spitoon
The changes made in the datafile take effect immediately, regardless whether or not you start a new season or resume one in progress. As long at the datafile.txt is in the /data folder (NOT /data/datafile) all changes are implemented as soon as you start the game. The only time this wouldn't happen is if you changed datafiles while the game is running. (IE if you minimized the game, changed the datafile, then maximized and resumed playing). In that case the new changes wouldn't take effect until the next time you shut the game down and restarted it.
big shmooz
Ok, I stand corrected. I had been led to understand that this was not the case. I personally only play exhibition because I only play verses other people, not the computer. (I wish I could play a season verses other people online, but the game does not allow for this)
spitoon
The same applies to exhibition games. That's how I test all my datafiles usually...I make changes, go quickly into a "Play Now" game and see how they turn out, playing for a few innings. Then I quit, make more changes and repeat. big shmooz
I knew this was the case in exhibition games. I thought it was different though for dynasty & owner mode though. That is where I was mistaken.
tks
The changes made in the datafile take effect immediately, regardless whether or not you start a new season or resume one in progress. quote] I'm glad you verified this...I was positive that a new datafile became effective as soon as a game was started but then began to wonder based on comments in this thread. I know this may seem crazy but I actually have about 30 different datafiles on my hd and change datafiles just about every dynasty game I play. I do this if I want more difficulty (or easier) pitching or hitting or just want to play having different views.....Kinda keeps me on my toes. :laff:
