what i mean before is the locking up of the game happens to me even if i use the yankees red sox and the mets and i am using big smooze cyberface set and the mbe file

Which version # cyberface only set are you using? & which .mbe version? Also, you need to tell me exactly what was going on at the moment it crashed. Who was batting pitching etc..

Also... was this off a clean installation? Or did you have other files inserted at some time in the game?

Shmooz, game locked up on me as well playing Yankees v. Royals at Kaufmann. Locked during a replay in the 8th inning. I'm using your most recent KCitystar update and roster ver. 1.5.

What was the replay about? Who was batting? Who was pitching? Do you have any other mods installed?

Big Shmooz - I am having a frustrating problem that is probably not the fault of your rosters.

I had edited the Red Sox to my liking and keep them as exported teams. They work perfectly in the roster (an older version of yours) where they were edited. But when I go to import them into your roster, it causes the game to crash.

Importing and exporting teams in MVPedit has usually yielded no crashing, but after a while things do tend to crash. As a matter of fact, the first time I tried importing my Sox into your roster, I got a bunch of different errors and crashes. When I restarted my computer and re-downloaded your roster, I was able to import without problem but the crashing persisted. Therfore, I'll have to manually edit my changes with side-by-side windows tomorrow.

But that brings me to my next problem. If I just make a few changes to say, the A's, like swapping a few players, the only edit to your base roster, I get crashing again. I am pretty sure it is roster-related. To make sure, I checked out all my lineups and rotations, but they all were fine.

The crashing is so sporadic and unpredictable it's really starting to get on my nerves. I have made no edits to the models.big.

Are you making sure that after you edit, that the cyberface numbers match to the roster as it was before the editing? Meaning... that let's say you insert your own Alan Embree into the game. Does he have perhaps a different number than 692? (& not a generic face) You need to make sure that the numbers match.

Also, I know you did not ask this, but like in the all star team roster, if you try to import an all star team it will cause crashes because you have unmatching players. The player on the all star team & the player on his regular team. The game is then seeing a conflict between the 2 & it does not know what to do. So it crashes.

I am wondering if with imported players perhaps there may be still be some residue left from the old player & so this may be causing a conflict that the 2 do not match. This is just a thought though & I could be way off on this.

Just wanted to make a recommendation not just for your roster, but for all rosters:

For Ichiro, please add Suzuki as his first name. It looks odd with his name just being "Ichiro". It's been a gripe of mine since MVP 2003.

Also I've been getting crashes as well mid-game and in edit players. Maybe (I know it's going to be a pain in the rear) try recompiling the models.big? As it'll take a long time, if these problems keep popping up with no fixes I don't see anything else that can be done.

EDIT: Using the .mbe and MVPedit I've changed the stats of all the players in the majors, to match their career historical stats and depending on this season to better reflect their stats. Otherwise, I haven't added or deleted any players, so I don't have a clue what the problem could be. It pops up randomly, and it seems to center on specific teams. But at the same time, some games can be played without it crashing at all.

I had a game freeze using the Padres twice whilst playing my friend a ten game series online. (5 games he was, 5 games I was the Padres) We had two game freeze ups when a ball was hit towards third base. So we played those games over. Anyway, that makes a total of 12 games. (10 plus the 2 crashed games) But as you can see, 10 times we played the exact same teams when it did not freeze up at all.

Now how can this be a models.big or a roster problem, when the very same rosters & faces & uniforms that froze 2 times are being used & 10 times it does not freeze? This is my problem that I can't seem to solve.

If I could have narrowed it down to a moment I brought up a specific batter or pitcher, ok, I could do something. But the very same batter & pitcher that was there when it froze was also there when it didn't freeze.

Nope, I made sure all the cyberface numbers matched.

Even though the residue thing might seem to be true, I had just imported them from the last version of your roster, where I had only changed the ratings. (Copying them over from a old roster) So they are 'your' players.

Now, I did make a few roster moves before the import, but they were balanced out by the minor league teams I imported. Maybe the duplicate player problem is arising again? I'll have to check that out..

But the roster move problem also occurs when I change any team. Without any rating edits, I just went straight to the As on your newest .mbe and swapped Durazo with Johnson, etc, and changed the lineups and rotations accordingly. The game then crashed.

I have the same problem playing a dynasty with the cleveland indians, when i play against the detroit tigers the game chrashes within the first throw to a base, strange :hmph:

i found the problem, it hadn´t nothing to do with your Rosters / Model file.It was an CTS mod, and i changed back the original bkgnds-file in the frontend section. I had even crashes when i wanted to look at the shedule in my dynasty, now it works, everything ok. Just to let you know, Big S.

Don't worry, I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from.

One more odd thing; I had a game where i was constantly crashing in the first inning. I was using the default stadium (I forgot the team, it was either the Reds, or Nationals, but again I'm not completely sure as all I'm sure of is it was early in the Mets season) and after i replaced it with a 3rd party updated stadium, I had no more crashes. I mean, I don't know if something like that could stop the crashes, but apparently it did? But then again, it could be just another freak incident and the game just didn't want to crash with or without the new stadium. So I'm confused as you are and still trying to figure out the problems.

And I said this in one of the old threads at the Mods section, but it appears to crash right before the commentators say something; ie a grounder to 1st base would make them say "Offerman (using a random name for this example) picks up the ball!", but right before it says that line it would crash. I also had another crash right before the game started, it was about to talk about the starting pitcher when it crashed. So maybe the problem could be audio. I know it doesn't exactly lower the possibilities of what's causing the problems, but I'll still be looking it over to figure things out.

I have a question for you. When you swap players from the majors to the minors & vice versa, (or do a trade) do you always make sure they are removed from all 4 of the lineups before you make the move?

That's the thing, I was starting to wonder & it seems to make sense to me that this issue of freezing might in fact have absolutely nothing to do with my mod. But rather a stadium issue. That a specific pixel of the stadium connecting with the pixel of the ball, may be the issue that causes it to freeze.

& now that you are saying this about the audio.... I am starting to wonder if it may be as you are saying, an audio problem. (though I am still leaning more towards it being a stadium issue.)

Try doing that & see if you still get the crashes. I always make sure to do that in my rosters. & if I forget I always start over by restoring my backup. I save often when I do this stuff so if I make this mistake (& it does happen on occasion to me too, like yesterday it happened to me) I don't have to do all the work over but rather can start at a point where at least some of the work is already done.

One more thing... I am not sure if you do this already, but if you don't...it's good advice to use mvpedit check errors feature, to make sure you don't have any errors in your rosters. (it's not perfect & may not catch every error, but it will catch the glaring one's.)

i tried reinstalling my game and now my freezing or crashing problems with my game are gone though im not using cyberfaces anymore

You never told me which cyberface pack you were using. If you were using the zip file of just cyberfaces, & the .mbe file, & you used a .mbe file that was uploaded at a later date than the cyberfaces, this WILL cause your game to crash. This is because the newer .mbe files have cyberface numbers in them that the cyberface pack you downloaded does not contain. Just something I felt I should point out to you.

If you want to have the latest rosters, you need to download at the very least, the "lite version" of the models.big that I uploaded.

i was using the proper (that you said) mbe file for the cyberface pack im not using any mbe file thats why i m asking you before that

when you update the mbe file please make it compatible with the cyberface pack

The .mbe file is compatible with only the latest upload of models.big that I uploaded (this past friday) I can't make it backwards compatible with the older cyberface alone pack because if I do that, then all the newer cyberfaces will not show up in the game if anybody uses the .mbe file.

The only other thing I could do is upload a new version of cyberfaces in a zip file, which I actually just did for you & others just now.

I don't know if I found my problem, but looks like all my crashes occur when I'm wearing the Red Angels jersey...I've played one game with the White jersey and Texas in gray, and completed the game...

Can this be a problem between uniforms and Halo's stadium???

And by the way, the only game out of four that I've completed, Kevin Mench cyberface was red with green writings on it! :-)

Gotta to believe I'm too old for the mods, better return to the Sega Genesis :-)

Hmmm... I tested out that jersey & it seems to be alright. I know that Kccitystar's main home & away unifroms caused the game to crash, so I replaced those two, but his others seemed to work fine. Perhaps there is something wrong with that one too & I have not yet noticed it?

But there is a graphics setting that if you change, will clear up that problem. Also make sure in MVP edit that you have Kevin Mench's face in the box that says 04 set to "no". (it's under the appearance tab in MVP Edit)

That jersey should work fine also. I don't know why you are having a problem with it. Anyway, there are a bunch more jersey's that the Angels have that you can also use.

ok yo big shmooz,i duno why my game crashes nowadays quite frequently for no reason.

i installed both ur model.big file and the roster.wondering whether it had anything to do with ur update.i sincerely hope it is not the case,but i'm desperate

shmooz, the version that I use was 1.5. I extract the .mbe and the models.big the same day that was uploaded. I remember that the .mbe file said that "Only use these rosters in conjunction with the models.big file I uploaded from July XX & on. Otherwise your game will crash". I know that if I use an old models.big with a recent .mbe file the game crash.

Hmm..the newest version of KCcity models.big isn't working. My game didn't crash yesterday, and the only other thing I installed before it was a Red Sox CTS/theme. To check, I downloaded a different CTS, and it worked too, but still crashed halfway through the first loading bar. I was using your rosters, so that's probably not the problem (all stars)
