OaklandIn05
Blanton was complaining about his crappy play (3-7) so I traded him, and I dont need Dotel no more because Huston Street is LIGHTS OUT (28 saves in 30 chances) ... Crosby should be there, but I may have made a mistake I may have traded Crosby ... I'm actually not sure ... I'll tell you when I am playing

OaklandIn05
A's Win And Get A Holliday Gift The A's win ater losing a heartbreaker 1-0. Rich Harden pitched great while Matt Holliday pitched in with a grand-slam, his 13th homer of the year. His first as an A. The A's improve to 47-36 and gain a game on the Mariners (48-35) ... Rich Harden (8-2) pitched 7.1 good innings allowing 2 runs on 5 hits. Jairo Garcia and Huston Street closed it off. Street got the save, his 28th on the year. On the Jays side Vernon Wells went 4-4 but had ZERO RBI. Brian Lawrence (6-5) pitched well until the 3rd inning when Holliday hit the salami. "It feels good, knowing that my first homer on the team helped them win." Holliday said. Holliday who many thought would flop being away from Coors has been doing just fine batting .287 with 6 RBI and 1 HR since coming to the A's in a trade. The A's small-ball approach has worked but with Holliday and Eric Byrnes, who will return from a strained back after the break, smashing HRs, the teams philosophy with these two might have changed. "They hit the ball, and it hit it far, and hard." said Ken Macha, A's manager. Eric Byrnes hit 2 HRs in consecutive games before straining his lower back jumping for a HR ball. Holliday and Byrnes each have 13 HRs and team leader Eric Chavez hasn't hit a homer in 13 games. . . Oaklands best two pitchers are not Zito (6-9) and Buehrle (9-7) like expected but Danny Haren (8-3) and Rich Harden (8-2). Zito and Buehrle have said the same thing about their less then stellar records. "It's lack of run support" said Buehrle "I pitch 6 good innings of no run ball, and my offense can't manage one run? I mean come on thats not good." Zito has the same thinking "That's great that our team puts up 4-9 runs when those guys pitch. I just wanna know where those runs go me and Mark [buehrle] pitch. We pitch they score 2 if were lucky. I'm not saying all my starts have been gems, but I haven't pitched 6-9 baseball." ... Buehrle and Zito are very outspoken about their opinions when it comes to their record but so are Harden and Haren. "I feel like no one can hit me." said Harden "I obviously have to thank the offense for putting up 4+ runs the last three times out, but I have pitched well." ... "This is what I'm here for" says Haren "I'm here to pitch, and pitch good, and thats what I'm doing." Haren gets the start against Toronto tomorrow and heres their lines. D. Haren --- 8-3 ... 3.97 ERA ... 49 K ... 35 BB ... 90.1 IP D. Bush --- 5-3 ... 5.70 ERA ... 55 K ... 26 BB ... 71.0 IP

OaklandIn05
A's Win Snoozer The A's win a 1-0 sleeper between the Jays. It was very much a pitching duel between Danny Haren (9-3) and David Bush (5-4). Haren pitched seven strong innings scattering nine hits and K'ing six Jays. David Bush countered with a eight inning, six hit, six K game. But Bushes mistake came in th 4th when he let Khalil Greene hit a bloop single into center that scored Erubiel Durazo. That one run is all it took. The Jays had plenty of chances to score, having RISP 6 out of the nine innings, but the A's pitching got them out of it every time. Huston Street pitched the 9th inning flawlessly, giving up a hit, but striking out all three other batters for his 29th save. After dropping game one of this series 1-0. The A's win two straigt to take the series. Their 4th straight winning series. With the win the A's gained yet another game on the struggling M's (48-36) and are now tied for the AL West lead. The A's (48-36) will head to Chicago to face the White Sox (42-42) while the Mariners (48-36) will head to Anaheim to face the Angels (40-45). Those two series will decide who leads the AL West at the All-Star break. OaklandIn05
Holliday Gets 2nd Slam, A's Win in 15 Matt Holliday has two homeruns as an Oakland A ... and both are grand slams. Tied at one in the 15th inning with the bases loaded E. Durazo bloops a fly ball to right field and Jermaine Dye DROPPED the ball allowing Jason Kendall to score from third. The score was then 2-1 Oakland and Matt Holliday stepped up to the plate. He swung at a hard slider from lefty Kelly Wunsch in on his hands, the next pitch Wunsch threw to Holliday ended up 432 feet sway in the left field seats. Jason Kendall (who went 4-, Eric Chavez (4-7), and Marco Scutaro (2-7) also contributed with RBI as the A's won the game 9-1. Former A set-up man Octavio Dotel (0-3) received the loss while knuckleballer Steve Sparks (2-0) got the win. The lone White Sox run came on a 5th inning Juan Uribe homer ... his 16th of the year. Steve Sparks continues to make a case for a starting job as he pitched 3 scoreless innings K'ing six. Dan Meyer (1-3) went 5 innings before gassing out and leaving way for Ricardo Rincon. The White Sox started Dustin Hermanson (5-3) who pitched well through 6 before giving way to the bullpen. The A's (49-36) now hold a 1.0 game lead on the Mariners who lost their first game to the Angels. Tomorrows pitching match-up looks like this .... OAK --- Barry Zito 6-9 4.00 ERA CWS--- Orlando Hernandez 7-8 3.56 ERA
OaklandIn05
Zito Gets Runs, A's Win 4th Straight The A's win their fourth straight taking game two of the series 3-1. Juan Uribe hit another homer on the first Zito fastball. After that it was all Oakland. In the 2nd inning with runners on 2nd and 3rd, Khalil green hits a sac fly (3) to get his 25th RBI of the year, and Nick Swisher followed with his 2nd sac fly and his 26th RBI. Khalil Greene then added an insurance run on an RBI single. Zito pitched 7 innings, allowing 3 hits, 1 run, 1 walk, and 7 k's. El Duque pitched 7.0 innings allowing 9 hit, 3 runs, 1 walk and a K. OaklandIn05
Buehrle Gets Complete Game, Win #10 A's pitcher Mark Buehrle got his tenth win of the season today improving to 10-7 on the year. He pitched a complete game scattering six hits, a run and only four strikeouts. Buehrle faced off against his former teammates for the first time since being traded and got to face Freddy Garcia (6-7). Garcis pitched 7.0 innings giving up 7 hits, 3 earned runs and knocking down 5 A's. All three Oakland runs came in the top of the eighth inning with Shingo Takatsu pitching. Mark Kotsay started the rally with a one-out single. The single was followed up by an Eric Chavez single, which was followed by an Erubiel Durazo RBI-single to make it 1-1. With runners on 1st and 3rd with one out Matt Holliday came up and hit a one-run double. 2-1 A's. They walked the bases loaded for Nick Swisher, who hit a line drive to Harris who missed it, scoring another run. The final score was 3-1. In the last 6 games with the A's, the Sox set-up man (Takatsu) and closer (Dotel) have had trouble against their lineup. "I can understand Dotel, I mean he was an A for some time. I honestly can't explain Takatsu getting rocked every day though" said Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen. The A's (51-36) hold a 1.0 game lead over the Mariners (50-37) heading into the All-Star break. It's shaping up to be Oakland and Seattle fighting it out, unless Los Angeles or Texas can turn it around.
