rows24
With the game tuning options how do you get the cou to be more patient at the plate and take more pitches. I barely throw about 60 pitches a game.

Shef87
This is because you most likely throw all strikes.

JohnnyBlaze
no...it's because the game is unrealistic. Yeah, so unrealistic that I can get my pitchers and the CPU pitchers into the 90s for a pitch count by the 6th inning on a regular basis. Just because you can't get your game to play the way you want don't assume it's the game's fault.
sfgiantsflgators
i'll admit that i though mostly strikes and that is why my pitch count is always somewhat low. i have spitoon's walk fix so every few games i'll have a walk but not often. however, it doesn't bother me because i believe that the dumbest play in baseball is the walk. i figure that since batters get themselves out more than 60% of the time i'll take my chances - even if i have to groove one or two. i might throw out an intentional walk if a Bonds, a Vlad, a Pujols, etc. comes up with first base open but if i can help it i'm not walking anybody. sure, it's unrealistic to the point that no pitcher goes a season with 0 walks and has quality outings that only entail 60 or so pitches but i can sacrifice that aspect of a video game to enjoy the rest of it. (case in point: in my dynasty, Greinke has pitched 59.2 innings and has a 35:1 strikeout to walk ratio. it's by far the largest gap on the team but no pitcher on the team is double digits in walks - Lima is closest with nine in 62.2 IP. the team staff has a 158:49 in 37 games. other stats and gameplay occurances are damned accurate though thanks to the great mods on this site)
Zelda55
there's difference between enjoying the game and trying hard like a loser to make it all realistic...just admit that you shouldn't have to try so hard with datafiles and intentional balls on non-2 strike situations to get your pitch count up there. When did I say that I do any of that? And you think I'm a loser? And BTW, I do enjoy the game.
silan72
no...it's because the game is unrealistic. No. The game can be realistic with the right slider settings and datafile. My pitchers get 80-100 pitches per start and usually last around 5-7 innings. I get 5-8 k's and 3-5 walks per game. 75 games into my Drays season and my record is 30-45. Pretty realistic for me. Try serial mikes walk/k fix and set pitcher control at -50 and meter difficulty at -50 and see how realistic it can be. I play on pro by the way. Zelda55
i have all the walk strikeout "fix" on all-star but the fact is that sometimes you through a perfect pitch to some noname player and you're pitching with some guy like schilling and they still crush it. all i'm saying is that pitchers in real life try to throw strikes, not balls. the balls are usually when they are extremely confident in their fastball etc. or they are comfortably ahead. another thing is that if you have a guy like santana and you throw them a changeup in the dirt they NEVER chase it. thats so unrealistic...even sammy sosa doesnt chase it in this game and hes just terrible unless the ball is down the middle these days. i have my swing frequency at -28 or something but the problem is that if i have it higher they will swing at EVERY strike and i wont get any called. i know this because they already swing at almost every strike. so you see where the balance is lacking.
