"Hey daverick, Great dynasty!!! An easy way to get your pics to full size is just copy and paste the url where it says hotlink for forum 1 on imageshack"

Actually, I figured that out. The problem was that the pictures were on top of eachother. Do you know what size I should use so they appear side by side?

Game 6: Padres at Cubs

Woody Williams (0-0, 20.25 ERA) vs Kerry Wood (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

I forgot to save Kerry Wood's first game earlier, so his stats are different

Hard fought battle, Cubs lose it in 11th

klesko8eq.png blah5lz.png

left: Ryan Klesko lays out to make a nice catch, right: the Padres celebrate in the dugout

This game was simply dominated by pitching until the bottom of the 8th inning, when Michael Barret singled with 1 out, and pinch hitter Jason DuBois singled to right for the game's first runner to reach second base. But Corey Patterson would pop out to the pitcher, and Todd Walker grounded out to 2nd to end the threat.

Ryan Dempster would come on with 2 outs and 2 men on in the 9th, and strike out Phil Nevin with a filthy curve ball. The Cubs had the heart of their lineup coming up, with Nomar, Ramirez, and Burnitz.

After Nomar grounded out to lead it off, Otsuka came in to try and keep it tied at 0. Ramirez and Burnitz hit back to back singles, which brought up Derek Lee who has 2 hits in the ball game. Lee grounded out to 1st, and the Padres tried to turn the double play, but Burnitz broke it up with a clean, hard slide and kept the inning alive for Todd Hollandsworth, who struck out on a 3-2 change up. This one's headed to extras.

The Padres had a runner on third with 2 outs in the 10th, but Dave Roberts popped out to first baseman Derek Lee. Trevor Hoffman came in to try and hold the Cubs, but a 1 out single by Ryan Dempster and a bunt single by Corey Patterson brought up Todd Walker, who had a walk off hit earlier in the week. Walker would strike out, but Nomar Garciaparra hit a single to left field to load the bases for Aramis Ramirez, who struck out, sending the game to the 11th.

Mark Loretta hit a 1 out single, and Brian Giles came up with 2 outs, delivering both the first and second runs of the game, with his 3rd homer of the season.

Hoffman would lay them down in order, and the Padres would win it, 2-0.

Jeromy Burnitz had this to say about the game:

"It was a tough loss. Woody came out and pitched a phenominal game, but we didn't score any runs for him. It hurts to know that his efforts went to waste. We had alot of oppurtunities to score, but they made their pitches. We'll try and rebound tomorrow."

Hitting Noteables

Nomar Garciaparra 3/5

Jeromy Burnitz 2/4 2B, BB

Player of the Game: Jeromy Burnitz - 2/4 2B, BB

W - T. Hoffman

L - R. Dempster

This Week in Baseball

Hosted by Peter Gammons

Baseball season is finally under way, and we have alot to talk about. Let's start with the AL East.

TB 5-1

NYY 5-2

TOR 4-3

BAL 2-4

BOS 2-5

Tampa Bay has just dominated their opponents, scoring 36 runs over 6 games, and allowing only 21. Dewon Brazleton has made 2 starts, and is 2-0 with a 1.45 ERA over 17.1 IP.

The Red Sox really have struggled, averaging only 2 runs per game. They have a tough schedule coming up, and they're gonna need to take their game to a whole new level if they want to repeat as World Series Champions.

AL Central

Tigers 6-0

Indians 3-4

White Sox 3-4

Twins 2-4

Royals 2-5

Where did these Tigers come from? They've scored 31 runs on the season, and have allowed only 11! Jeromy Bonderman leads the staff, with a 2-0 record over 13.2 IP. I said it before the season started and I'm not going to change my mind now. The Indians will take the Central, and I'll tell you why. They are one of the most talented teams in baseball, with a solid starting rotation and a strong offense. The only negative thing I see is that they are a young and still immature team, but throughout the season they will learn.

AL West

Angels 6-1

Mariners 4-3

Athletics 2-5

Rangers 1-6

This is the Angels divison to lose. No other team can compete with them. They have one of the games best hitters in Vladamir Guerrero, a great closer in Rodriguez, and alot of power and speed up and down that lineup. Bartolo Colon will break out this season and win 18-20 games, and the rest of their rotation is solid as well. I like the Rangers in the future, but the Angels will win the AL West.

NL EAST

Mets 5-4

Phillies 5-4

Braves 4-3

Nationals 3-4

Marlins 1-6

The Mets added 2 huge players to their team in the offseason in Pedro and Beltran, but I like the Braves. Bobby Cox does a great job and is the best manager in baseball. They now have Tim Hudson and John Smotlz in their rotation, and a good closer in Dan Kolb. Andruw Jones is going to have a breakout year offensively, and after this season is over, it will be 14 straight divison titles. John Smoltz is 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA with 15 K's on the season.

NL Central

Cubs 5-2

Pirates 4-3

Cardinals 3-3

Astros 2-3

Brewers 2-4

Reds 2-4

I think the Cubs mean business. They lost Prior and Wood for a good portion of last year, and Prior has come back, and has come back strong. He's 2-0 over 16 innings with 19 K's and an ERA of 1.13. Wood is 1-0 through 15.1 IP, with an ERA of 0.00. They have one of if not the best rotations in baseball, but I feel as if they need to shore up that bullpen, and get some offensive help before they can contend with the Cardinals for the divison title. Until that happens, I'm picking the Cardinals. Larry Walker leads the Red Bird charge with a .435 average, 3 homers and 6 RBI's.

NL West

Padres 5-2

Giants 4-2

Dodgers 3-5

Diamondbacks 2-5

Rockies 1-5

I like the Padres. They have a solid offense with Loretta, Giles, Klesko, and Nevin, and the addition of Woody Williams is a big one when you have Jake Peavy and Adam Eaton already. They also have one of the best bullpens in the league, with Hoffman closing out their games. The Giants can make a run for the division, but will need some starting pitching help to be serious contenders.

There have been some huge defensive plays this week, but my vote for Web Gem of the Week goes to Luis Rivas of the Minnesota Twins, taking away a bases loaded single with this diving stop:

For the NL Player of the Week, I have Geoff Jenkins of the Milwaukee Brewers:

The award for NL Pitcher of the Week goes to John Smoltz of the Atlanta Braves:

My choice for the AL Player of the Week goes to Vladamir Guerrero of the Los Angelos Angels of Anaheim:

The final award, AL Pitcher of the Week, goes to none other than Jamie Moyer of the Seattle Mariners:

That does it for this week's version of This Week in Baseball. Due to financial reasons, This Week in Baseball will longer be aired. The show has been changed to This Month in Baseball.

Why was Jeromy Burnitz the player of the game in your last game. Shouldn't it have been Giles or maybe the pitcher that shut you out? Just an observation.

Hey nice dynasty so far. I also have a CUbs Dynasty going so far. Im in the NLCS against Houston. Aramis Ramirez played 9 games and hit 9HR before going down with injury. I aquirred Carl Crawford for Todd Walker and Hollandsworth. (Walker ended up hitting 35HRs)

My suggestion is to keep Renyel Pinto in your organization. He is pitching great for me.

Good luck!
