wickethewok
What advice do you folks have for giving position players and pitchers playing time during spring training? Should I pretty much only play my MLB guys and top prospects or what? Also, whats the deal with Auto Select Lineups? Does it just randomly distribute people into A, AA, AAA, and MLB? Is it supposed to generate lineups for spring training? I don't suppose anyone has written any FAQs for Spring Training? Oh dear, thats quite a few questions... well thanks in advance guys! rolliefingers08
no, there is a seperate button that says auto select lineups. why is it a bug? i like it because it gives most of the minor leaguers some playing time in spring training, and as the spring goes on, it fades out the minor leaguers and brings in the major leaguers and AAA prospects. there's nothing buggy about it. CT_Braves_Fan
I actually "sent" most of my major leaguers to the minors for spring training, until the last few games. Thinking that my prospects needed more playing time (or developmental time) than the Chippers/Soltzes/Andruws of the game. Some of my prospects actually got increases in their ratings after the spring was over. I don't know if there is a direct connection or not, but I couldn't argue with the results. Obviously things change if you actually play all of your spring training games --I know some just sim them. I am not sure what the effect on players is with just simming the spring. I would suggest go ahead an play your prospects, see who is going to work out well in the game for you. That also gives you a better idea of who to call up when the injury bug hits. As it is, I don't always have my roster the same at the end of spring training as I would have at the beginning any way, so it is not that big of a deal to move who I want to move around. Though I do suggest what Mo said, write down your roster before you lose it. Worse case you will have it jotted down somewhere if you want to go back once again. Expos4Ever
I tried playing with the most favoring slider in spring training with the Nats. Livan Hernandez went like 4-0 with 0.00ERA and 0.2WHIP with plenty of strike out(over 15 at least a game)... ...and his attribute still dropped.
wickethewok
"[auto select lineups] gives most of the minor leaguers some playing time in spring training, and as the spring goes on, it fades out the minor leaguers and brings in the major leaguers and AAA prospects." <--- that sounds pretty good then "...and his attribute still dropped." <-- probably because Hernandez is 30 this year, which seems to be the cutoff for skill increases. I actually did write down my rosters, as off-season trades/FA signings usually make me keep track of these things, so I'm good with that. There arent any known cases of a quality young player losing some skill if he doesnt get enough spring training play, are there? WickeThEwokI have not come to a situation where a young player looses skill if they don't play, though I wonder if the lack of playing time contributed to some of my "star players'" loss of skill. Though I had attributed that to age. wickeTHEwok shows his true colors:
wickethewok
Hahaha, nice stuff! I had a good spring training, with most of my under 30 guys going up in skill. Finishing sorting out my lineups, then opening day. Woot! Thanks! WickeThEwok
