Runners Sliding Into First..Annoying!

I am playing Owner mode at the Pro level. This problem started about 2 weeks ago and I have tried every setting to remedy this problem and I have even totally uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and I am getting the same problem. Whenever I get a hit, whether it is a single or extra base hit, the runners(all runners) slide into first base and of course I can't advance to the next base because they are always thrown out. Another problem is when(and this started at the same time) I have a runner on first and he gets a lead, the catcher receives the ball and the runner is froze and most of the time the catcher throws him out at 1st. This is ruining the game for me. I have been playing this MVP 2005 PC version for months now, and now all of sudden this crap is going on. Can anybody help???

Thanks!

3. Read the announcement at the top of the forum.

Have you checked the calibration on your controller? If one of the sticks is out of alignment, the game will think that you're holding the stick up or down to have your runner slide. Does this happen with runners moving from 1st to 2nd as well?

my gamepad appears to work fine(Logitech dual) and I have been using it for a long time. In fact I even put a brand new Logitch dual analog on last night thinking this may be the problem, but it did the same thing

Jim825, I have calibrated the gamepad but the right analog does not do anything when I try to calibrate, could this be the problem. I run Windows Xp and it just installs the gamepad by default, do I need real software to install the gamepad

I had the same problem with my game, and I wasn't able to successfully recalibrate the joysticks on my controller, either. The only thing that saved me was holding both joysticks up and to the left while putting in the battery pack, which seems to center it. Annoying, I know, but it worked for me, might be worth a shot for you.

Try deleting your .sav files (all the stuff that goes to your My Documents folder). When reinstalling over and over, weird stuff tends to happen to them corrupting the files, and that could be causing your problem.

This is from someone who worked on the game (not me).

I know this sounds too simple, but could it be the "Mode" button? It swaps the D-pad and the stick, possibly accounting for why your stick didn't work at all when you tried to callibrate it...

I have the same gamepad. If it gets hit, even tapped the analog sticks go out of whack. My outfielders started diving all over the place whenever I switched to them. What I would say to do is unplug it and plug it back in. That always seems to reset the calibration for me. Just to check after you plug it back in go to properties and make sure they are calibrated. If that doesn't work I would say to uninstall everything for the gamepad and reinstall for the new gamepad you said you bought. The game should automatically recognize the gamepad, at least it did with mine. I didn't have to set it up at all.

about the only thing I haven't tried is unplugging the gamepad from the hub and plugging it directly into the computer. I am going to try that this evening. The game does automatically recognizes the gamepad the 2 times I have uninstalled and re-installed. If the hub does'nt work, I think I will buy another type of gamepad. I love the game but I want it to work the way it used to a few weeks ago.

I have no idea what you mean by hub. I just plug it directly into the usb port.

Finally fixed the problem. i went to logitech's website and searched the tech support site and found a program that will go into the registry and clean the configuration files. After running the lws_clr.exe file that I downloaded, I then unplugged the USB gamepad and plugged it back in and sure enough the game is back to normal the way it ran weeks ago. The configuration files became corrput somehow and clearing them worked.
