LobsterSan
Anyone know how to play this game in windowed mode? I did a search and came up with one thread that was all but ignored. It would be especially useful for doing my own minor league roster maintenance -- I can have the game in a window and then my FireFox browser open for quick reference in another. biker_jim_uk
surely you'd use MVPedit to maintain rosters?
Expos4Ever
is that avartar allowed? :chin:
LobsterSan
Aha! Pardon my ignorance on that particular matter. I've become prone to brainfarts since finishing my formal education and starting working life. I didn't realize MVPedit did roster changes... for some odd reason I thought it was only used for picture updates. :duh: Regardless, I still think it would be useful to run the game in a window. I like fullscreen sometimes, but I've got a 24" widescreen monitor so it's often not really necessary to have all 24" in my face like that. I also like multitasking, and my present computer is powerful enough that I think it could take the stress of the game and a couple other programs at the same time. And yes, I know I should change my avatar, but I'm generally lazy, belong to many forums, and have only posted a few times to this one. When I up an avatar it means I'm going to contribute regularly. If I hit the glorious and wondrous 25 post mark, I'll see what I can do about giving you a picture to my name. :)

LobsterSan
I see... and I don't like the direction this thread is taking... :eew: Anyhow, anyone with any info on windowed play? I'm guessing the lack of response probably means no one in these parts has successfully done it. I'll drop EA a line and see if they have any advice. biker_jim_uk
is there a windowed option in setup? Have you looked in the configs? Why not just alt-tab between progs?
LobsterSan
alt-tab is a reasonable way to switch between programs, but it's slightly more cumbersome than having both programs visible at the same time. As well, I'd still ideally like to play while windowed so I can keep a third of my screen usable for other tasks/tv shows/live mlb.tv games. This way, I also seem less -- how shall we say... involved in the game when my girlfriend is around, since it's windowed and not occupying my entire field of view. Oh, and there is also one more issue -- since my desktop resolution is set to 1920x1200, when I run the game it tends to mess up the locations of my desktop icons and gadgets, presumably because it resizes everything to the 1280x1024 resolution before booting up the game. When I ran setup there didn't seem to be any extra options, other than partial or full install. As for config or ini files, I could only find controller.cfg (which presumably is only for controller settings) and localization.ini (which seems like it only deals with checking which localized version of the game you're running). Are there any other .cfg or .ini files that are lurking around somewhere not so obviously? In the other thread on this topic, the original poster had tried -windowed, -window, -w type extension variants to the mvp.exe file, but to no avail. I also can't seem to find a phone number or e-mail address to EA's tech support. They just have that FAQ-type thing on their home site, and nothing links to actual customer feedback. Does anyone know of an e-mail address or anything like that where people can ask questions not addressed by the FAQ on their site?
big shmooz
I play in windowed mode but then sometimes it starts to rain... so I must close it... (just kidding, but I couldn't resist)

Maybe you could rewrite one of the dlls? I wish I knew how to... but alas, programming is not my area of expertise. I wouldn't really know where to start -- but you say one of the .dll files that are installed might be able to be rewritten? How are .dll's encoded? Can I modify it using something like Visual Basic, or is there an even easier way to do it?

spitoon
I don't think anyone has solved that one this year...I remember High Heat allowed a command line switch, but I don't think MVP does.
