GoldGlove
Hi, MVP runs smooth on my system. But there are some things, I don't understand. First there is this problem that in certain Ballparks the game slows down extremly, so you can't play at all. The second problem is that everytime the CPU has a runner on base, the pitcher's delivery becomes slower, but the gamespeed in gernal is normal. I haven't installed any mods, unis, rosters just EA Patch 3. Turning down the graphics doesn't help. Gold Glove

aknbean
I had this same problem. Drove me crazy. Just started out of the blue. Seemed like the CPU was working overtime and everything slowed as you described. I was one step away from cleaning my hard drive and starting anew - when I said, why should I do that. To much work. So I checked my system start up and stuff running in the background. Even though I use endItAll I still found stuf that could have been running. So between EndItAll and using msconfig to uncheck some unneeded startup aplications and a nice abosolute clean install of the game, the problem went away. Heck, your graphics card is more than suitable for running this game. I do caution one thing about graphic drivers. When you install, reinstall, or install new or updated drivers it is way important to get a good clean install. Uninstall old drivers, registry entrys, and driver files you know of, inf, etc. Then reboot and get your computer to a standard VGA driver. The install the new driver. Good Luck. spitoon
I was at my buddy's house on the weekend to help him with a similar problem. He has more than enough horsepower to run the game at the highest settings, but it was sluggish and jerky at times. It turned out that he had some viruses that were running in the background and eating up all his resources. A quick check (without running a virus scan) is to Ctrl-Alt-Del and look at the "task manager" and take a look at the CPU column, if you're just browsing the web, most of the time it should read 95%-99% in the "System Idle Processes"...in his case there was an .exe that was at 99%...running a virus scan solved the problem. You can even Alt-Tab out of the game at the specific moment that you are having problems and check the task manager...at that point MVP may be eating up some resources, but look at what else is, that will be the culprit. GoldGlove
First of all: Thanks for your answers. I thought I solved the problem by switching the refresh rate to 60Hz. The game was running as smooth as it did before. But then I recognized that there are slowdowns in certain stadiums (e.g. Spring Training Stadium One or my created stadium). I've really tried everything, even closing "resources eating" programs. But the problem is still there. I thought patch 3 was supposed to solve that problem, instead the patch brought it up. Well, I hope EA will come up with a new patch. I've read that they probably won't make a roster update, since they've lost the license of the MLBPA, but a simple patch is not too much. Gold Glove Sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes!
KerryW
Updated drivers? They should be new enough as the default ones that come with the card are pretty up to late (within a few months). Along with drivers for your graphics card, make sure that you also get the latest official ones for your motherboard chipset.

GoldGlove
Yes, I did. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the game yesterday. This might be the case (although I can hardly imagine). But then I wonder, why there is this problem in my created stadium. I haven't bought any upgrades, yet. So it shouldn't be very graphic intensive.

big shmooz
How can I clean the windows cache? A defragmentation (Is it called like that in English?) isn't nececcary, because it's my secondary HDD an MVP is the only thing on it. To clean the windows cache go to start > all programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk cleanup. Empty everything in there. Do this for all your drives. Not just the C drive. I would also do a defrag regardless of that it is the only thing on the drive. Files tend to move around to the wrong places which can cause slowdowns. Listen... if it doesn't help, what have you lost? If it does help, look at what you gained.

MalibuKiller
How can I clean the windows cache? A defragmentation (Is it called like that in English?) isn't nececcary, because it's my secondary HDD an MVP is the only thing on it. but it can be also important to defrag the harddrive where WINDOWS lies on,after i didnt found a solution with graphic ,cpu and mainboard setting ill try to defrag my whole harddrive with O&O Defrag I have the exact same problems at mainly SPRING STADIUM 1 and SAFECO FIELD but the most at SPRING STADIUM , i contacted EA but they couldnt help.. I recognize a short (maybe a sec) stutter when the ball is thrown across infield (3rd - 1st , 1st-3rd) when the ball is over the mount , its like the game would pause for a moment (maybe a sec) another short stutter happens when the ball is thrown from the outfield to the infield right in the moment when the ball is begining to loose speed here are my system specs: AMD ATHLON 2600+ (2080mhz real) ATI RADEON 9600 XT NVIDIA NFORCE 2 (ONBOARD SOUND) MSI K7N2 DELTA-L 1024MB 333Mhz RAM (I had 512 a short time ago , I had more stutter when i was throwing the ball with 512 then i have with 1024 now) would be nice if you could post the same gold glove so lets compare the systems wich have this "rest of stuttering" problem When I make a pitchout and when i then begin to throw across the infield I have stutter but after a while (4-6 throws) all stutter is gone , who else can confirm that ? THis is what EA has written: Hello, Thanks for contacting EA Technical Support and for your interest with the MVP Baseball 2005! I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having running the game. We are trying to isolate what is causing the problem. If the game works when the V-Sync is disabled then we can identify that it is causing conflict with the game. But here are tips to help get past the CD-ROM trouble you are having. When a game displays an error describing an inability to read the CD, or a game will not load once installed, this can be for several reasons. The reason usually falls on three areas; the CD-ROM drive, the game disc, or software issue between the two. As you can imagine this can be a daunting task to troubleshoot, however if you follow the below steps you’ll be able to narrow down the issue to the root cause and resolve the issue. Please keep in mind that these are not meant to be tried all at once, so make sure that once you’ve completed a section that you attempt to launch the game to see if that particular troubleshooting resolved your issue. Verify that the disk is clean/undamaged and the drive is able to recognize the disk. With multiple disc games, the installation program will prompt you to insert the next disc during installation. If the installation program stops responding, it may be due to clicking the “OK†button too quickly after inserting the next disc or inserting a dirty disc. The following steps will help prevent lockups during installation. 1. After inserting the disc that the installation program is prompting you to insert, please wait at least 10 to 15 seconds (the indicator light will stop blinking on the CD-ROM drive) before clicking the “OK†button. This will allow the CD-ROM drive to initialize the disc properly and allow the installation to resume properly. 2. Make sure that the disc is clean and free from defects. Fingerprints and scratches could also cause lockups during installation. Use a soft dry cloth to wipe any smudges or fingerprints from the disk. Verify that the correct game CD/DVD is inserted in the correct drive. 1. Many games now come with multiple CD’s, and which CD is required to start the game may not be blatantly apparent. Note: If you are unsure which CD is required to launch the game, please refer to the game documentation, or attempt to start the game with all of the discs that came with the game. 2.Games now are being offered in a DVD disc format to reduce disc swapping during installation, and reduce the confusion for the consumer. The catch to this is that you cannot install or play a DVD version game unless you have a DVD-ROM drive in your computer to install and play from. Log on as Administrator .(This only applies for Microsoft Windows NT, Microsoft Windows 2000, and Microsoft Windows XP) 1.Many games now will only work properly when installed and played on an account with Administrator level access. Disable Compatibility Mode. 1.Right-click on the shortcut used to launch the program and choose Properties. 2.Click on the Compatibility tab. 3.Uncheck the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for. 4.Click the Apply button, and then click OK to close the window. 5.Launch the game from the shortcut that you just modified. Install and then start the game from a different CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive .(This only applies if you have a secondary CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive in the same computer.) If the game is currently installed, uninstall the software. 1.Click Start. 2.Click Control Panel. 3.Double-Click Add/Remove Programs. 4.Select the game you are troubleshooting, and click the Remove or Add/Remove button (depending on your operating system). Install the game using your secondary CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Insert the game disc. Choose Install from the autoplay screen. Once the game is installed, start the game while the game CD is in your secondary CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. Disable Emulation software. Because of the way Emulation software converts physical hard drive space to mimic a removable storage device, such as a CD-ROM drive; this can prevent the software from being read properly. Below are a few of the mentioned emulation drives with basic instructions for disabling them. Should your particular emulation software not be listed, please refer to the software manufacturers’ website for further information. Alcohol 10% Start Alcohol and click on the Emulation option on the left window. Select Emulation from the option tree. Uncheck the Ignore Media Types box to turn off the media type emulation. Select Extra Emulation from the options tree. Uncheck the BAD Sectors Emulation to turn off this type of emulation. Exit Alcohol 120% and restart the game. CloneCD 1.On your Windows task bar in the bottom right of your screen (next to the clock), locate the CloneCD tray icon. 2.The icon can differ, but should look like one of these: 3.Right-click on the icon, and uncheck Hide CD-R media. 4.Restart the game. 5.Daemon Tools 6.Locate the Daemon Tools icon, which should be located on the Windows taskbar (next to the clock). 7.This icon can differ, so hover your mouse over each icon for a description of what it is. 8.Once you’ve found the Daemon Tools icon, right-click on it. 9.Select the Emulation tab. 10.Deselect SafeDisc. 11.Restart the game. 12.Veritas DLA 13.Double-click on My Computer. 14.Right-click on the CD Drive. 15.Click Properties. 16.Click on the DLA tab. 17.Uncheck Enable DLA on your Drives. 18.Nero Image Drive 19.Launch Nero ImageDrive. 20.Go to the following location: Start à All Programs à Nero à Nero 6 Ultra Edition à Nero ImageDrive 21.Select Disable Nero ImageDrive located at the bottom left side of the program. Install SafeDisc update. Before you install the SafeDisc update, follow these steps to see if they are required for your computer. 1.Insert the game play disc. 2.Click Start. 3.Click Run. 4.Type cmd in the available text box and press OK. 5.At the command prompt, type in the CD-ROM drive letter that your play disc is currently in, followed by a colon. 6.Example : D: 7.Press the Enter key on your keyboard. 8.Note : This should change your current prompt to match the drive letter you typed. 9.Type dir /a:h in the new prompt, and press Enter on your keyboard. 10.This will display all of the hidden files on the disc. If there is a file named SSIFSDAT.SYS listed among them, you do not need this update however it may benefit other games. Click on the following link to download the SafeDisc update. http://www.macrovision.com/products/safedisc/downloads.shtml Follow the instructions listed on the Macrovision website to download and install the SafeDisc update. Once the update has been successfully installed, restart the game. Change DMA transfer mode to PIO mode .(This applies only to Windows XP users). 1.Click Start. 2.Click Control Panel. 3.Click Switch to Classic View in the left pane. 4.Double-click on System. 5.Click on the Hardware tab. 6.Click on the Device Manager Button. 7.Double-click IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. 8.Double-click Secondary IDE Channel. 9.Click on the Advanced Settings tab. Note : If you do not see the Advanced Settings tab, your computer probably has a SCSI (small computer system interface) drive. DMA transfer mode options are not available for SCSI drives. 1.Under Device 0, select PIO only in the Transfer Mode box. 2.If you have more than one CD or DVD drive, also select PIO only in the Transfer Mode box under Device 1. WARNING : If Current Transfer Mode under Device 0 or under Device 1 states Not Applicable, that device is not in use. Change only the Devices that do not state Not Applicable. If both devices state Not Applicable, your CD or DVD drive is on the Primary IDE Channel. Double-click Primary IDE Channel. Click on the Advanced Settings tab. Under Device 1, select DMA if available in the Transfer Mode box. WARNING : Device 0 is most likely your hard drive and should not be changed. Click OK. Restart your computer, and then restart the game. Download and install the DCOM update .(This only applies to Windows 95/98 users) 1.For Windows 95 users: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en 2.For Windows 98 users: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en Download the latest firmware version for your CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drive . 1.Contact your CD-ROM drive hardware manufacturer to obtain and install the latest version of the firmware. Scan your computer for viruses. 1.The game may quit, generate an error message, or stop responding during start or when you play the game if your computer is infected with the virus. Important : If you already have an anti-virus program installed on your computer, update your antivirus program with the latest signature files before scanning your computer. Most software companies that create antivirus programs release a new signature file each month. After you obtain the latest signature files, scan your computer. For help obtaining the antivirus signature files, contact the antivirus software manufacturer. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with the game. Does the game stutter in all modes of the game or only in your career mode? Please make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts. · Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time · Click the "Processes" tab. · Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name. · Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE. · Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names. · Click on END PROCESS · Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile. Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system. If you receive a warning for any of these, don't worry it is a standard warning message and is expected. Please click "yes" and continue. And when running DirectX games, some video driver's acceleration features may conflict with the Window's acceleration features. Follow the steps to adjust Hardware Acceleration: · Right Click on your Desktop and Select "Properties". · Click on the "Settings" tab. · Click the "Advanced" button. · Click the "Troubleshoot" tab. · Slide the "Hardware acceleration" bar to "FULL" if it is not already set to FULL. · Click the "OK" button and then close the Display Properties Window. I’m sorry for the difficulty that you are having with the game. Unfortunately the MVP 2005 site is no longer available as EASPORTS no longer maintains an active license with Major League Baseball however, we do still support the patches for the game which include roster updates. You may find those patches at the following location: ftp://ftp.ea.com/pub/easports/patches/mvp2005/ Each patch carries a separate roster so you will have to run each patch separately and save your roster in order to obtain each one separately otherwise they will overwrite one another. And regarding with the game performance issue, please send me this information from a program called dxdiag.exe. To do this: · Go to Start -> Run. · In the box, type the following: dxdiag · Click "OK" · Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application. · Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save. · Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply. After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution.
