Akward Situation ...

Alright, here's the deal, there were runners on first and second and Jose Guillen was up. I pressed up to crush a fat pitch and coincidently it's my "go to second base" trigger. Now when I did it, I forgot to send my runner to third so he stayed at second and the man on first passed him by a quarter of an inch (like his foot was further off the bag. Now it was a homerun but for some reason, the computer took away the homerun and called an out. Than two seconds later when the ball landed, the homerun sign flashed onto the screen. The only thing was that Guillen didn't get credit for the homer and the runner on second didn't get credit for a run even though the cut sequence showed him cross homeplate.

If anyone understood that and has had it happen to them, let me know. I know the rule is that if a runner passes another runner on the basepaths he's out but I never thought it was possible in the game. I tried to recreate it but it didn't work.

sounds like a bug in the game and it really should've been a home run.. I get a lot of stupid things that make no sense in games.. such as inside the park homers and triples ruled as errors with no hit or a sac bunt ruled as an at-bat. the weirdest thing i saw in the game was in '04 where i where i hit a home run and the game froze for a second and the next thing i see is it's ruled as a double play and there were 2 out with none on when 2 guys were on when i hit it

I think I might now a ceratin situation. Im not sure exactly what happened but once, in real life, Robin Ventura hit a Grand Slam for the Mets. He passed the runner at first base and was called out. The homerun stood and the three runners scored, but Ventura was out. He was credited for a HR too. Im not exactly sure if it happened like this, but I no something with Robin Ventura and a Grand Slam, and him out because he passed the man on first. Kinda get what im saying? So I dont think its a glitch, but who knows. Hope this kind of explained the situation.

yeah it happened at a Yankees game the other day.. it wasn't a home run though.. it was a bloop but Giambi had to hold in case it was caught and Crosby/Giambi met at the same base and Crosby actually over ran him

yeah, the rule is that the runner that passes a preceding runner is out. therefore, in ventura's case, he gets the credit for the homerun and three RBI - but he's an out. now the trick would come if there were two outs...how many runs would count, if any? i'm going to ask the official scorer when i go back to work tuesday and, if no one has posted an answer to my question, i'll pass on what he says (he's been an official scorer for over a quarter of a century so whatever he rules i tend to believe)

Actually, Crosby didn't pass Giambi. He was tagged out by the 2nd baseman. Doesn't really matter but I just thought I would correct that.
