epe039 Posted July 11, 2005 Author Share Posted July 11, 2005 LEAGUE NEWS: PITTSBURGH WHEELS AND DEALS TO IMPROVE TEAM AND MAKE A RUN AT THE PLAYOFFS! Pittsburgh traded 3 prospects: Royce Merced, Kyle Neagle and Steve Velarde to Tampa Bay for Scott Kazmir and B.J. Upton. However, Upton and Kazmir didn't stay long because 1 hour later they were shipped off to Texas for Mark Teixera and David Delucci. With the addition of Teixera the Pirates were free to deal Daryle Ward, packaged with Delucci, to L.A. for Milton Bradley and Frank Brookes. Pittsburgh also traded Willis Roberts and Jason Boyd to the Reds for Wily Mo Pena and Anderson Machado. Pittsburgh announced a day before opening day that they have dealt Mark Redman, Matt Lawton and Joe Roa to Florida for Paul Lo Duca, Juan Encarnacion, and Todd Jones.
