almstsobur
First of, what is the power swing Mod? I was reading the downloads and some say thay have it some do not. what is it, what does it do? Now, let me try to explain my problem. I cannot hit many homeruns no matter what I do. I just finished a 162 game fantasy season on All-Star where I played every inning of every game and lost in the first round of the playoffs. I was bitter .. but my real problem was I had some power on my team, Pujouls And Eric Chavez to name a couple and Chavvy had 14 HR's and Poujols ended up beaing my team leader with a whole 19 HRs. Almost every stat on the whole season was very true to life and accurate, except my runs scored, and obvioulsy my homeruns. They both will reflect each other to an extent. I try working the count, I try pushing the pad in all directions when swinging .. but I cannot hit HR's. Is there a mod out that will help me make this next season a little more realistic please? I started my next fantasy season playing with the A's and my team record stands at 9-11 right now and I have 4 total team HR's. Currently I am using Jim825's combo datafiles v2 for my DataFile User contact at +12 User power at +30, but I have even tried it at +50 .. but every hit seemed to be a double to the wall that way. HELP please :)
almstsobur
A litte more insight on this; I have tried playing at Pro level and I pop homers like normal. The problem is on Pro the CPU can't score, i absoulutely dominate from a pitching standpoint. Maybe is there a mod that will allow the CPU to play the field/pitch at a pro level but bat at All-star level? Is that possible? P.S. I only have my contact at +12 with a .312 team BA cause I have to get hits to score with no power numbers. Thanks.
cybernetic
I hit tons of homers on pro level.. sometimes 8 per game a time.. I had a game where I hit 10 once.. I've been working on hitting the other way and hitting with runners on lately and have really been improving.. I don't know about the cpu they score runs if u pitch badly and leave pitches over the plate though and if u get a datafile that has a walk fix in it it should help with pitching so you dont hit the pitch perfectly every time and can give up mistakes that get smacked
Roscosuper
I was in your shoes at one time......now I can play on MVP level......I do not use any datafiles and the only slider adjustments are "foul ball frequency".......my games are very realistic and my season stats are right in the mix.....when it comes to hitting, timing is everything......you have to know when to be aggresive and when to be patient......there is nothing wrong with your game....you do not need a datafile......the only datafile I reccomend is bill harris's "progression mod"....but that has nothing to do with gameplay......just keep practicing, it will just take some time.....try developing a timing mechanism....for me, I keep my thumb, loose, right on the swing button.......I wait for the pitch to be released, and try to pick up the velocity and trajectory......by the time its half way to the plate, I **** my thumb ever so slightly...and then my decision to swing or not.....I still have my share of strike outs, but that's basball.....just keep working on it....when I started, I cussed the game, and blamed my controller and my computer and everything else, and now I found the MVP level to be really fun
almstsobur
I am starting think my homerun timing is just not going to get any better. I have now played a total of 187 games (every inning, at-bat, and pitch). I can't imagine how many at-bats that is .. and I just can't pop homers. Do you push on the directional pad to pop them? Cause I rarely do anymore, I usually just take a line drive swing. And if you do push .. do you push it all the way, or just a little bit? I would have a damn near perfect simulation going if I could just get these power numbers figured out. K's on both sides are great, ERA's are right on. ... WesleyanCowboy
Hey, I had the same problem as you when I started on MVP this year. Obviously you have lots of AB's and experience under your belt, but maybe this will help. I get fairly accurate HR numbers and a definate improvement from my numbers before... and yes, for me the key is the directional pad. If the pitcher is pitching inside to your power guys make sure you hold the pad all the way up and to "pull the pitch" (right field for leftties, left field for righties). Your hitter will try to load and yank one out of the yard. Just a note, if you don't hit it square like this you are looking at a cheap IF fly; so if you don't like the pitch, don't hack at it. I only take my big hacks at fastballs or high-hanging curves. If he is throwing you away, push all the way up and to the opposite field. You will get a HR once-in-a-while this way. Even when you don't, sometime you get some nice deep doubles of-the-wall. When sitting away like this, I would recommend not trying to hit anything other than a fastball however, trust me, you run the risk of a dribbler to the pitcher or a weak grounder the other way if you do. I hope this helps you somewhat. Best of luck. Happy bombing (I hope).

Jeeper
First off let me just thank whoever runs this site for a great effort, it is appreciated. That being said, I've seen several threads on here about players have trouble hitting homeruns. I know everyone loves the big fly, but I am in my third season playing the Yankees, with 2 AL pennants (no WS win yet), but I've never had any player hit more than 30 HR's in a season. I know it's laughable, but my point is, even in All Star mode, which is what I play, you can still win often with good old strategic hitting. I know not everyone is all about homeruns, but there are some players out there that expect to hit a HR every other at bat. Get over it. Thanks again for the forums and all the downloads guys. almstsobur
Yes, i had the best record in baseball, in my last season after playing every game. I did it with nothing but stratigic hitting. I lost in the first round of the playoffs though. But my thing is realism, It's not realistic for a 162 game season to have Eric Chavez and Alber Pojouls hit a combined total of less than 30 homeruns. I play for the simulation aspect, and other than my run production and homeruns the rest of the numbers are very true to life. I would just like to get the power numbers a little more accurate.
