Sarginto
Ok, here's the deal. I have the latest patch. I am running the game at 1024x768 Resolution. Here are my specs: ATI Radeon 9800 XT 512MB DDR Ram AMD Athlon 64 2.0ghz Processor SB Audigy 2 sound card Windows XP Ok, so, I tried putting on AA and AF, doesn't help. I turned it off, doesn't help. I tried lowering the resolution, it doesn't work. I tried upping it, doesn't work. I know for a fact that I have a good machine to run this game, and it still doesn't work good at all. The stuttering is totally crappy. It happens when pitches are on their way, and when throwing to the bases. Does anyone have any suggestions? I haven't found any solutions on the forum that help. Thanks.
silan72
Which stadiums are you getting this stuttering? Have you tried reinstalling the EA patches? Also, which drivers you using for your 9800?
GoldGlove
Hi, set the "AGP Aperture Size" to 128 MB. But 128 MB should be the maximum for you, because you have "only" 512 MB RAM. Hope it helps!
ezdriver
Sarginto: If by stuttering you mean that you see 3 balls thrown across the infield when trying to throw the runner out, then try to set up as close to the following as possible: 1. Vsynch enabled in-game and in Display Properties; 2. Set Refresh rate at 60Hz using Refresh Force or comparable; 3. AA set to 4x and AF to 16x in Display Properties; 4. All Display settings in game set to max; 5. Game screen resolution - 1280x1024; 6. Install patch #2 from EA. You may have to scale back a bit from the above with your ATI card (but not much I would imagine), and it should help with the stuttering. Good luck. ez
zeropants
I have the same problem with my system... Couple different resolutions tried, and I have my refresh rate at 75. Any ball from the left side of the diamond thrown to the right makes the game stutter as the ball approaches 1st base. Everything else seems to run smooth as silk... Athlon 64 3200 @ 2350mhz 1gb Ram x800xt Win XP You have to have patch 2 or later installed. Also the refresh rate should be at 60 hz, not 75. Also I am assuming you are not playing online. Online you can have stuttering that has absolutely nothing to do with the game, if you are losing packets while transmitting over the internet. Also, make sure you have V-sync turned on both in game & on your video settings in windows.

Everything else seems to run smooth as silk... Yeah, I also get that slight momentary pause right before the ball is caught for an out at a base. No idea what the cause of it is, but it is distracting. Other than that, gameplay is very smooth and fluid. ez
EagleBall5
I have the stutter as the ball approaches 1st and 3rd as well. My temporary solution is to remove the crowd. Everything runs better for me when I do that. Anyone care to explain why?
Sarginto
Well, I've tried everything that you told me, and I'm still getting the damn stuttering. Does anyone else have any last suggestions?
Lars777
Well there are a couple thing you can try.....1st...you can get the driver that came with your graphics card and install that one....Even though the very latest drivers are usually backward compatible...there not optimized for your card.....the latest drivers are written and optimized for the newer ATI cards....so you can try rolling back to the orignal.....Also you may want to turn off fastwrites in your ATI control panel....and lastly you may try to turn down your sound acceleration in the dxdiag control panel.....even though you dont think its a sound problem.....Soundblaster cards mostly Audigy can cause many behind the senes headaches as most dont even think a soundcard can cause conflicts.... Lars777
Also.....512 of system memory is very shaky as Win XP will hog almost half of that when loading all of the backround services.....there are many sites around that guide you in turning off some of these services to allow more memory to be available for games. Black Viper is one site to check out......Also the speed of your memory can be a factor... all the games today make heavy use of textures pixel shaders....and most anything under PC2700 will be weak at best....The best thing to do is check your mobo and see what speeds it supports and then see what speed you have in it.....If you dont know then you can go to 3DGuru and download a program called Sandra-Lite......install and run it....It will give you all the details you need to know. silan72
Well, I've tried everything that you told me, and I'm still getting the damn stuttering. Does anyone else have any last suggestions? spitoon
Will too many mods cause this issue? Depending on your system...I can't run the 2X uniforms because it slows down my system too much.
Lars777
depending on the graphics card....you can lower the pixel shader.....normally all Gforce fx support pixel shader 2.0....but only the 5700Ultra on up can run 2.0 smooth....As the newer Gforce 6 series cards support pixel shader 3.0.....with ATI Im not sure for I really only know Nividia cards.....But anyone with a Gforce fx card my want to Install RiviaTuner and set pixel shader from no override to force1.4.....that will help for sure.....and you can even try force1.1.....I assume you can set the shader on ATI as well I just dont know what model cards are shader 2.0 and 3.0. spitoon
Well, I've tried everything that you told me, and I'm still getting the damn stuttering. Does anyone else have any last suggestions? How about background applications or viruses? I went to a friend's house a couple of weeks ago to help him because his game was running choppy...turned out he had a couple of viruses that were actually running in the background and eating up system resources... When the game is running Ctrl-Alt-Del to the task manager and take a look at what's running there and how much CPU time they are getting...it's okay to have around 30-35 things in there, but none of them should be using any significant CPU time other than the game...in my example above there was a .exe app (virus) that was at 98-99% of CPU usage...definitely causing a problem. Lars777
Sure backround apps play a huge part especially when system mem is only 512 meg. When memory is 512 or less you should shut down all that you do not need to run your game.....Anti Virus software is a huge system resource hog.....disable it when you run your game.....again 1 gig or more of system memory should not be a big problem. But as for me I only have about 5 things running in the backround when playing a game. If turning off some backround tasks and then turning them back on again get to be a hassle then you cna do it with a program called...FS-Start.....its just a bat file that allows you to set what programs to shutdown and then restart.....it was intended for Microsoft Flight Simulater which is a huge resource hog.....but works well for its purpose.....Just Google FS-Start and try it..........................Good Luck
