12th game of the season - 192 RBIs

Just broke Hack Wilson's 191 RBI total in my 12th game of my owner mode dynasty. I broke the record with my own created player (and no, its not a Paterson).

Edit: I'm still playing the game. Top of the 5th at Yankee Stadium. My Devil Rays are winning 80 to 1. Muahahahahaha.

All my players are either Devil Rays or Indians players (I'm a fan of both teams). I even have Juan Gonzalez knocking out dingers.

I have a macro program, so it was easy to go into MVPEdit and set all of my teams (A, AA, AAA, and MLB) to superman abilities while all the other chumps are the worst. The GlobalEdit part of MVPEdit works wonders (just don't try to change hat sizes).

And the only exception to the other teams being bad is the Cleveland Indians who I made mediocre (pretty much how my Devil Rays are now and how Cleveland has been playing since the break).

Before I forget, I just want to thank those who provided all the tips on getting better offensive numbers. My player has 26 grandslams (of course, I make sure those in front of him bunt as much as they can). Plus I have all the sliders tweaked for my offense and not theirs.

I average about 60 runs per game with the Devil Rays and I hold the other team to 0 or 1 runs.

What's that? Not realistic? You think I must be bored?

Not in the least. I still haven't pitched a no-hitter (came close) and there are still other records to break. Its a good way to feel powerful anyway (hitting 900 ft homeruns with my Keegan Paterson is nice too).

I'm not really caring about the realism part. I've been watching the Devil Rays for about 8 years now..its time I had my own "Hit Show".

The one side-effect of all my datafile tweaking is that when teams aren't playing me, it takes them 12 or 13 innings to score just one run against their competitor. Meanwhile, their pitchers are getting 23-27 strikeouts per game. Yeesh.

One last thing. The dudes who always say timing is the easiest with a gamepad are right. Get yourself a nice cordless controller and you'll be swatting out homeruns 35 times a game (give or take a few, that's my average).

Okay, I've said my peace. Thanks again all you mod gods.

Yes it is crazy. Fun for me though. It takes an hour and a half to play a normal game of about 50-60 runs. I would've thought it would take a while too, but the other team can't hit and my players go through the basepaths like bullet trains. It cuts down on the animation time (other animations I skip when possible too).

I started my 127-2 game (how it finished against the Yanks) at 2:30 am and ended it at 5:00 am. The inning that took the most time was the 5th where I scored 49 runs. Imagine how Steinbrenner would've reacted to that if that were real. I'd tell ya, there'd be a packed stadium next time at the Trop when the team came back to St. Pete.

It takes an hour and a half to play a normal game. I would've thought it would take a while too, but I still make it through.

My 127-2 game against the Yanks took about 2 hours.

Yes, I know when I'm getting 127 runs with that game, I shouldn't be worrying about how the computer's doing elsewhere. I just don't want to ever see Curt Schilling throwing 27 strikeouts per game. I guess I have to take a look into the cpubatter and pitcher part of the datafile again.

Here's some images from my game.

I was having that problem too, but I do think its the 3 inning barrier that you just have to pass. It can be a blowout like with my game. All you have to do is just make sure your pitcher pitches exceptionally well. Colome gave up a homer, but since I was winning by so much, I guess that still counts as exceptional.

I warmed up my pitcher in the bottom of the 6th and just put him in at the beginning of the 7th inning. As long as you do that, you should get the save if you pitch well enough and keep them in there until the end. It has to be a full 3 innings though. I once put Baez in during the 7th with 1 out and he didn't get the save.

Also, I'm using the 3rd update from EA, if that helps. I noticed some other statistical errors with the earlier versions and they've been fixed since. Maybe the 3rd update fixed the save problem.

Good luck.

yeah the rule is you have to go the final 3 innings with a reliever to pick up a save if the lead is more than 3 runs.. but you can also get a save with a reliever if they came in to the game when the lead was 3 or less and you score more but you have to keep hte same guy in

Now ... were's the fun in that?

There's obviously a lot of fun in that. There are many posts in the forum where people are wanting to hit more and more homers. So I'm not the only one that likes offensive dominance.

I've been playing video sports games since the days of RBI baseball on the NES. I'm burnt out on trying to play realistic games. There's no point to it for me anymore. When I want realism with my sports, then I just turn on the TV and watch a game. Some feel great in playing MVP realistically. Good for them. It doesn't mean I have to play that way though.

I play for strategy in games like Pirates Gold or Civilization III. I figure that when baseball goes to a salary cap, I'll start playing real again. So we know that's never gonna happen.

Dumb.

There's nothing dumb about playing the game the way you want to play it. Some feel satisfied winning games 3 to 2. I don't. For me, its nice to be able to stomp the Yankees and their $10 billion dollar payroll around a bit. They've won enough.

And from their website, a Met is just a shortened form of the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club, Inc., the conglomerate which owned the team.

wow

it can't be real!

the Devil Rays one of the worst teams in MLB (no offense) hit 127 runs against the best team in baseball history. that will never, NEVER, and NEVER is gonna happen in real life

if it happens in real life ill buy Tickets for all the MVPMods members for all the season of their favorite team

This is the most insane thing I have ever seen. You need to be playing some dumb arcade game instead of 05. Maybe you should play for real, it might be a real challenge.

I think this is a great example of how flexible the MVP engine really is. Sure, some of you may think it's no fun to win a game by such a wide margin, but I wouldn't mind stomping on the CPU every now and then. This example just goes to show that if you really wanted to, you could make a crazy hit-fest arcade game if you wanted to by editing the datafile, just as you could make a deadball era simulator. There's absolutely nothing wrong with having some fun. I salute you, Scootman. :wtg:

icky icky icky...he has some good points...I like more offensive numbers...but what i do is simply turn up the game tuning for BOTH teams so that more hits results in a game...I hate playing the game for 30 min and having it 0-0 in the 7th and having to play small ball to score...I like to see the contact and power hitters actually deliver  but not 127-2 thats pointless and boring to me...

University @ Buffalo!! LH Closer to be??? possibly!

What I do is put the contact and power sliders all the way up to 50 and bat for both teams on the rookie level. I usually hit 15-20 HR's a game for each team and the scores wind up at about 38-32, 39-25, etc. I'm doing a Padres dynasty like this. The Padres have a 14-9 record through 23 games with the Padres scoring 610 runs and allowing 547!

I stomped the CPU all the time and won almost 20 games in a row and decided it was too easy and to increase the difficulty and now I win about 65-70% of games and it's close games

4 Innings are an automatic save, no matter what the score is!!!!
