After another dissapointing start from Jesse Foppert, Felipe Alou called for LaTroy Hawkins to start pitching in the 5th. With a comeback from the offense, he was in line to get the win, until he blew game with a 5 run 7th...

Felipe Alou made a comment about the struggling Geoff Jenkins saying that he would give him 2 more days until he pulled him from the lineup.

Schmidt gave up 4 runs in 6 innings in an attempt to get his first win, but once again, no support. Felipe Alou, dissapointed with his team's lack of offense, said he was going to change the lineup drastically for the next game. "We can't keep playing like this...", He added.

Padres pitcher Woody Williams and Giants pitcher Kirk Rueter both went late into the game with Rueter giving up the first run on a sac fly in the 8th. Omar Vizquel tied the game on a single in the 9th and Pedro Feliz drove in the go-ahead rbi on a single in the 10th. Benitez came on for the save. Felipe Alou said, "We're still not where we want to be, but at least we won."

It looks like you get a lot of runs when your pitching isnt the best and scoring 1-3 runs when your pitching is good. Keep up the good work.

Transaction

Today, the Giants went out and signed SP Denny Neagle to a 2-year contract. He will be used in the 5th starter's slot in place of Jesse Foppert who was moved to the pen. Brandon Villafuerte was sent back down to the AAA club.

Also, the Giants moved Marquis Grissom down to the AAA team and called up 2B/Utilityman Kevin Frandsen who was batting .429 at the time.

Brett Tomko settled down well after giving up a leadoff homerun in the 1st inning to scatter 2 runs over 6 innings. Jesse Foppert added 2 innings of scoreless relief.
