riker147
OK.........it's time to rant. I am sick and tired of people in here telling other people to do a search for what ever problem they might be having. Not to mention some of the condescending remarks that I've read along with those "helpful answers". The problem with doing a search is when you type in a word or a phrase you get 800 or more posts that include that word or phrase. Regardless of what the post is about. An example would be:Search "install mbe. file into game". Well then you get every single post that has the word "install", or "mbe." or "file" or "into" or "game" in it. I've wasted hours searching for answers to different questions, and more times than not have come up empty because I got sick of reading page after page after page. I am new to this game and to this forum and expect a little common courtesy when asking a question. I have been lucky with the two questions I've asked but it's getting to a point where I'm almost afraid to ask a question. All I'm saying is, if I have a "stupid" or simple question just give me a reasonable answer or at the very least give me a link to a post that has the answer to my question. Without the smart a** remarks!!!!!

ezdriver
I have to agree with the general content of your post, as quite a few people here can get overly anal about telling people to do a search. Never seen a forum that is quite as "unfriendly" in that regard. On the other hand, you'll also find that sugar draws more positive responses than bitter retorts. Just post in a positive manner and you'll ultimately find a friendly soul to help you. As far as your original question goes, you insert the .mbe file in the main directory of MVPEdit., then open it from within MVPEdit. ez

carter
"Search" does not just mean use the search function. It could also mean scrolling through the threads in a particular forum. I find a lot that way. The bottom line is that we don't want a lot of duplicate topics so please try and not ask questions that have already been answered. One final thought. Post topics in the right forum people! This thread has nothing to do with MVP 2005. It should be in the Forum and Site Issues forum.
riker147
Thank You ez. I was only using that question as an example. I figured it would be an easy question to find an answer to. All I ask is if you know the answer then help the dumby out a little. It takes just as much time to type the answer or give a link as it does to type "do a search for it". Ok.......I said what I had to say. I'm done. Brooklyn and Tribe Time, all you've done is prove the point I was trying to make. :wtg:

Yankee4Life
I'm sorry you have had a hard time finding things in here riker147. But this really is a very helpful place. Part of the reason why people always tell others to "do a search" is that many times in the past someone would come in here with a question like "where do I find this?" and he would wait maybe ten minutes for an answer and the poster would either bump the thread (so it stays on the main page) or go off on a rant complaining that his question or questions were not answered. I can not tell you how many times that happened. I'm sure many forum members can back me up on that. The key to asking any question is to have patience. When I post a question out here, I usually hope for the next day or so for an answer. And the only reason for that is maybe the person who knows how to help me won't be on until that time. Anyway, if you follow these short tips for posting questions, you should be fine. 1. When you post your question, give as much information as you can. What is the problem you are having? Or what are you having a hard time do? etc, etc. 2. Post this in a polite manner. If you ask nicely, you will get more people willing to help you. 3. After you have made your thread, go to the bottom of the page and find this: Watch this topic for replies. When you click on this, you will be notified each and every time a response is made in your thread. 4. Have patience. 5. When you get an answer and it works for you and even if it doesn't, still thank the person. Basically, it is just being polite to your fellow forum member. mastasports1
Brooklyn and Tribe Time, all you've done is prove the point I was trying to make. I don't know what to say here. I could go off with a 10 minute rant about how much I want to teach you a lesson right now but I won't. You just wouldn't understand, as I can clearly see from your posts. Like I've said to Y4L before, obliviousness annoys me more than anything else. It just isn't smart to walk into a forum and post something like this. If you have a general complaint, there is no need to throw it up in a rant like this. If you want respect around here (this thread lost ANY you will EVER have here) than at least do it in a professional fashion, or better yet privately with an administrator. And when you call out a member here who has contributed dearly to this website and as such has had to deal with the oblivious people on a daily basis, it just makes you look further like a piece of crap! How else can I put it! But why can't people see that little button that says FAQ! Why can't people read some of the FAQs in each sub-forum! Hell, why can't people even put rants in the correct forum?? Seem strict and structured? People seem agitated? When you're dealing with 11,000 members things tend to get that way. You haven't seen the hunderds of threads which only clog up the forum with questions that can easily be answered. Trues and others try their best to make the answers more obvious, but you have to meet us halfway. People are kind here. We want you to feel welcome. But to earn respect you must first exhibit it. Gudraves
Try adding the conjunction(think thats the right word, if not yea well I failed and tryin to be smart then) "and" to your search and it will help out alot. I used your example and tried a search for "install and .mbe" and came up with just 30 matches in all forums.
five
I'm not going to comment on the actual rant, but when searching, click on the bottom where it says "Display Results As" - change that to "Posts" - it'll make it easier to find what you're looking for. Kriegz
Again, I am actually one of the more friendly people here and I often go to bat for newbs, even when my reputation is at risk, you can't just walk in here, and say "This forum sucks because they won't use the search function for me". That just really pisses me off, especially when you call me out, do expect me to send you a box of chocolates?
NYM
Riker, I've had the same problem too. It shard to find things on the search function no matter how detailed you make it. People are going to be nasty to you some times. If you have a problem with searching try going to an admin or something cause this will start a fight. Lets face it, some people think their above everyone else. :eew: IDEA: Maybe Trues or Y4L, can delete older posts, or filter posts out that havent been answered in ten days or something. That would contribute to frustrated searchers like riker, me and the rest of the people on this board. Trues, Y4L, any chance of this happening? EDIT: O yea and just some commen sense. Don't use smart *** remarks when someone is trying to find something. Wouldn't it just be easier to help the person then to annoy them. People who don't use their brains are the people who dont even know they are starting a confrentation.

He first called out these boards, then me, then me AGAIN and Brooklyn as well. All because he wants people to do his search for him, all of the time he spent whining, he could have searched and found his answer already. Please don't tell me you are going to bat for this guy, NYM, cause you have nothing to work with, you don't exactly have a great reputation here anyways so I don't really care. 95% of the people here who ask questions politely and without calling out the forums and 2 of our respected and helpful members get thier answers in at least a couple of days
