robskicks
It's fairly new (the computer). I checked all the system requirments it passed them all... The only thing I have installed in the computer MVP-related is the actual game so, yeah.
carter
So let's get this straight, you have the cd in the drive and you click the icon to start the game and then it crashes? Is that correct?
createbaseball
the only thin you didnt answer is whether you installed the official EA patches. Just something to try. also, just in case there was some glitch with the install...uninstall it, and reinstall (making sure nothing else is running) then install the EA patches. robskicks
BOD- I haven't installed EA patches. I already re-installed it... how do I install the EA Patches? My computer which I am using for the game doesn't have internet access. CARTER- That's right, it starts loading with the Roger Clemens screen. Then nothing happens. robskicks
Any ideas on what it could be?
spitoon
How about video drivers? Have you updated them...You'd have to download them via a computer that has internet access, then burn it to a CD and install it that way...
JoltinJoeCarter
you have directx right, the latest one?
robskicks
Yea... but im gonna go ahead and re-download the latest one... emmm... atleast I got internet connection on this computer now!
robskicks
Hmmm. I just rechecked the system requirments and it turns out I am inadequate in RAM... I have 254 when I need 256. Could this be causing the problem?
robskicks
Nothing doing. Still not working. I really want to play this game! I barely bought it yesterday. Anyone else that can help? It seems to install just fine then it seems like some sort of firewall or something stops it from going into the actual came, like it aborts, after the Roger Clemens start up screen. But I don't know much about computers.
JoltinJoeCarter
no, it shouldnt be causing the problem, on ur PC bill, it will say that you have 256 MB RAM, but when you go check on ur pc, its slightly less. same with GB and other stuff, i wouldnt worry about ram
robskicks
I'm thinking now, it might be the video card. How do I go about fixing a bad video card?
robskicks
Or just updating one.
spitoon
Not sure what you are asking...if you have a bad (as in broken) video card you need a new one. There's not much to fix on video cards. Updating drivers might help, but I fear you have 'integrated video' which is basically a very simple video card built right into the motherboard...they are basically designed for office use...word processing, data entry, web browsing etc..and aren't really any good for gaming. If you want to upgrade to a better video card, you need to determine what kind of card your motherboard can accept. Start by posting as much information as you can about your computer. At the very least make and model if you have it.
robskicks
Well ok it's a fairly new computer, I mean I thought it could handle MVP. You bring up a good point as this computer was used for my dad's work... I think it's 2004. This is from the system information: It's an XP, system model OptiPlex GX150 system type X86-based PC processor x89 Family 6 Model 8 Strepping 10 Genuine Intel 930 MHZ. Hardly anything is on the memory. If this info helps. Thanks guys alot for all your information, I really appreciate it. Hopefully I can get it to work and your site will have another loyal member. robskicks
More info before I go to bed. It passes all the system requirements... The graphic card is an Intel 82815 Graphics Controller with 32.0 local memory, Driver version 6.13.01.3196 The sound card is Inter Integrated Audio driver 5.10.3523 Sure, they may not be the best graphic and soun card available but they should start up the game correct? Thanks.
robskicks
I would like to play the game a bit on this graphic card (if possible).

The graphics card is definitely your problem...the 82815 is an old chipset, in fact I can't find any drivers newer than 2002 for that...32MB of texture memory is also going to be a problem...I don't know what else to suggest.
