What's the secret of the hit-and-run in mvp baseball 2005? It usually fails for me and I was wondering how to do it good.

Direct/time your swing so that when you hit the ball it travels through the hole that is created when the secondbaseman/short stop goes to cover second base.

It's a secret. Shhhh:

The dude on base should have some speed, above average to really good, doesn't matter to me, matter of fact, I'm sure some would say that it does not matter if that person on base has speed or not since they are getting a good jump while the pitcher is throwing to the plate. Anyway, in my opinion, the runner takes off, the batter hits the ball the the (opposite field?). I never care if I hit it to the opposite field or the same side, I just make the dude take off while I swing. I usually only do it when the runner has very good speed so that if I screw up atleast he'll (the runner) wbe at 2nd base. If you were my age you'd have no question about this because you'd be able to say that you saw the Expos do it every single day against the Braves. It is a great "small ball" type of way to play the game and I love it. It makes you appreciate the "little things" in the game much better, it makes you appreciate coahches that are willing to stick their neck out that try it (often too). and if you do it while in manage mode you seem to score more runs that usual. Stealing and hitting and running are my small ball bead and butter plays when playing against other people or when I have a team and don't care to have 3-4 home runn hitters on my team. Like in my dynasty mode, I got rid of A. Jones, and I may get rid of Mench. If I do, I'll have 4 speedsters and only 2-3 guys that can pop 25 homers a year. The other players are contact hitters, speedsters, and guys I'll use for hit and run small ball type of game play

I've had plenty of success using a hit and run. To expand a little further on what the others have said... I find it easier to hit the ball to the opposite field--not that it can't working pulling the ball too.

When you have a runner take off for 2nd base, the 2B should cover if a righty is batting. Conversely, the SS will cover second base if a lefty is batting. So, if a righty is batting, you'll have almost 2/3 of the right side of the infield to hit it through.

If you try to hit it up the middle, be aware by having the runner take off for 2nd, you now have whoever is covering 2nd base for the "steal" now up the middle as well.

Hope that helps.

step one: have guy on first steal second

step two: aim down and to the right on the right analog stick (righthanded hitter) and hit a groundball to the right side, but make sure u make contact (do the opposite for a lefty)

thats it

there is no secret the point of the hit-and-run is to either avoid a double play or it shoot the ball into the outfield so that the runner can score easily on a double.. all you have to do as the hitter is try to make contact as long as u dont pop up, flyout or lineout it's successful

or you can have a broken controller like me and only be able to get hits and Home Runs with lefties. until I got my new controller yesterday that was the only time i could do a hit and run, but as long as you have a guy on base thats fast and make solid contact towards the opposite part of the infield that the runner is on, u should be ok.

First of all you need a contact hitter up if you want to be most succesful. If you have a righty up hit it to the right side becuause the second basemen would be covering. If a lefty hit it to the left side as the shortstop would be covering....MOST OF THE TIME this will work. glglglglglggl
