Oriole Park 2.0 WIP

The Big O

Recommended Posts

Well I've started work redoing my Oriole Park mod. After spending countless hours on Fenway I figured it was time to give this mod some needed changes.

I plan to add all the ads around the stadium bowl and in order to do this I have to completely remap two major bitmaps onto several parts. I have added a hi-res pic of the RF scoreboard and have done away with the working scoreboard to enhance the realism. I also completely redid all the bullpen ads and all the ads on the stadium walls. Also to those of you who were complaining about the file size and crashes, I have perfected the grass to a point where it no longer slows down the machine and hardly shimmers. Overall, I was able to reduce the file size for the whole day mod by 14 MB using QFS compression and resizing the grass.

For those of you going to the games I have one request. I need a hi-res pic of the MBNA and BofA ads on the third deck facade next to the message board. I will say thanks to mastasports1 for providing the pics he did, they helped a lot.

This a major undertaking but I feel that it needs to be done. I hope to have a release sometime later this month. You can see my progress here.

Great work! I watched the game on TV last night (pretty sad when an east coast 7:00 game with no delays is "late" for the newspapers!), and I noticed a few needed changes. If there's a way to make the Toyota ad brighter, please do so. Many of the ads behind the plate are now put there by the TV thanks to "green screens" behind the plate. You could also change the toyota ad to BofA. If you can find a way to get the dirt a bit more "used" and not as orange(?) in the night version. There's a huge "Let's go Raffy! 3000" sign on the B&O warehouse. And then if you can add some fans or something in the right field porch or whatever it's called, and vary the fans in the stands a bit more (more than 1 row of different fans) that would make it really realistic.

Which Toyota ad do you mean, the ones behind home plate or the one next to the Jumbotron? I will look at recoloring the dirt in the night version, it does seem a little off. The Raffy sign will definately disappear after the homestand, especially with recent events. Finally it is not possible to vary the fans just because of the way the bitmap is set up for animation, but I will add some more detail to them.

I'll see what I can do.

And the greenscreen ads behind the plate are only for nationally televised games (ala ESPN). Otherwise its a rotating ad.

I'll see what I can do for you with those ads, Big O.

Hey Big O, how possible is it to add the Ivy that is slowly starting to recover and creep up the hitter's eye backdrop? Its about three yards tall at the base and reaches all the way up on the right side where the wall comes together with the center field seats. Purely cosmetic, but I've missed the ivy so much in these games!

Also, not sure if this would be too much work, bu the cobblestone walk from the bullpen on to the field would be an excellant addition, as well as the chain link fence in between the left field seats and the bullpen.

By the way, you're the best. I know for definite the next game I'll be at is the 13th. I'll try to get there early and get some nice picks. The best thing is it is a 4:35 game, so its possible I could get both light and dark photos. Give me a definitive list of things you want.

Oh, yes, looks like you'll be an emulation of me in the Fenway Preview thread! :wtg:

The ivy was already present in my first version of Oriole Park but I did extend it along the wall below the CF seats. You can see a pic here.

The cobblestone walk isn't possible due to a lack of vertices and the way EA put in the bullpens. The fence is there in the night version but not in the day. Again a lack of vertices prevents me from doing this.

One major change that i made was the Warehouse texture. I was able to get a great texture from one of mastasports1's pics. You can see a pic of the new and improved Warehouse here. I've added all the ads (except for the two I need pics for) and now it is just the process of touching up things here and there before I move on to the night version. More to come...

Heh, sorry I ended my Orioles franchise I think in mid-April and haven't really played much in Camden Yards since.

You do beautiful work. The warehouse is stunning. Is there anyway to change the foul poles to the type that we have here? (Flat face, sort of three-sided.)

I just may have to start up another dynasty with the O's now after moving from team to team a while and not really finding a home to stick with. Once we get some cyberfaces for them, I mean. :lmao:

The only way I could replace them would be to use a flat image so it wouldn't look as good. I wish EA would have fixed those.

I've done some more touch up work. I added the wall above the CF wall to keep those fans in their seats. I also replaced the grounds crew area in the RF wall with a new one that looks much better. Expect a PM with my wish list soon, camus. You all can see new updated pics here.

That beautiful. It's a shame the PC graphics in general suck compared to the XBOX, because that would look absolutely stunning on the XBOX.

Great job.

How exactly would this work look better on an X-box?

Dude...what are you smoking?

PC graphics own the XBOX's anyday, unless you have a crappy video card.

Seeing as I look at most of the cyberface previews on here, and they have alias'd shadows and such, I feel confident in my statement.

The uniforms and cyberfaces are all 2x.

Most uniforms and cyberfaces on here are 2x. Some of the previews here haven't been taken on higher-end computers.

I'll stand by my statement..until the XBOX 360 comes out :wet pants:

You should get rid of your Vic 20 then.....

Well I spent most of the night trying to perfect the Baltimore Sun ad and the structure with the clock above the main scoreboard and I think I finally have it. I also changed the main scoreboard to get rid of that flashing Orioles logo and now it displays the following image:

I also edited the side scoreboards to reflect Tejada at bat for the day version, seeing as he is due up next. More to come!
