In some shocking news New York Yankees boss man George Steinbrenner fired General Manager Brian Cashman and hired a virtual unknown by the name of Chris Jones. One can assume the firing came as a result of 2004 season in which the Yankees lost to the hated Boston Red Sox in the ALCS. Jones offers no experience at the Major League level but does have some Minor League managerial experience.......{ Read more at link below }
armyofone
The New York Yankees started out the 2005 season leading the AL Eastern division after 10 games with a 6-4 record, which is a half of game batter than the Toronto Blue Jays and a game better than the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees bats have yet to come to life, that is other than Hideki Matsui (.375) and Gary Sheffield (.351). However, 8 of the 9 starting players have batted in at least 4 runs. Randy Johnson is proving worth every penny with a dominating 1.13 ERA with 12 strikeout and a shutout in his first 2 starts for the Yankees........{ Read more at the link below }

armyofone
The New York Yankees have been called the "Bronx Bombers" starting from the likes of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle and recently Reggie Jackson but the 2005 version has yet to live up to the nickname. Although blessed with talent, see league highest paid players, the majority of New York batters are playing below expectations. Example, Bernie Williams (.188 average), Derek Jeter (.216 average) Alex Rodriguez (3 hrs) and Gary Sheffield (1 hr)...............{ Read more at the link below }
armyofone
Many experts are wondering when the New York Yankees and General Manager Chris Jones will start making some transactions to help the struggling ball club. We are now at the 1/4th of the season and its becoming more and more obvious that some players aren't going to turn it around. Most Notably, Bernie Williams (.199 average), Jorge Posada (.242 average and 1 homer), Jared Wight (6.80 ERA) and Mike Stanton (6.53 ERA). .......{ Read more at the link below }
armyofone
The New York Yankees dropped to .500 as they slid to 4th place in the AL East. The Yankees bats have yet to really show signs of life hitting just above .260 with only 43 home runs in 50 games. Jason Giambi has been one of the few Yankees performing well. Giambi leads the team in average (.290), home runs (9) and runs batted in (30). ....{ Read more at the link below }
armyofone
Thru 60 games The New York Yankees General Manager Chris Jones apparently fed up with the Yankees current lackluster season has promised changes to the roster soon. Jones pointed out Jorge Posada, Jared Wright and Tom Gordon in particular. armyofone
thru 70 games The New York Yankees finally started playing like they should have since the beginning of the season as they won 8 of their last 10 games. The streak jolted them into 2nd place in the AL East, 2 games behind the Boston Red Sox. Derek Jeter and Jason Giambi continue to lead the New York bats. armyofone
Thru 80 games With the All-Star break closing in the New York Yankees have remained close in the AL Eastern Pennant race, now sitting 1 1/2 games back of the Baltimore Orioles. armyofone
Updated thru 90 games - 2005 season The New York Yankees unsurprisingly had no players voted to the All-Star team, yet they are just two games out of first place in the AL Eastern division. Despite having a number of batters not achieving up to normal standards, the Yankees are excelling with pitching. Both Randy Johnson and Carl Pavano are posting solid seasons......{ read more at the link below }
armyofone
Updated thru 100 games The New York Yankees won seven of their last ten games and have jumped to a season high 8 games above the .500 mark. Even with the recent success the Yankees still remain 3 1/2 games back of the hot Boston Red Sox in the AL East. Much credit can be given to the Yankees bullpen, where Mike Stanton's 3.88 ERA is the highest ERA among relievers.....{ read more at the link below }
armyofone
Thru 110 games The New York Yankees now have won 15 of their last 20 games and stormed back into the AL Eastern lead. The bats lead by Hideki Matsui and a fierce bullpen have enabled the recent success. armyofone
Thru 120 games The Baltimore Orioles have closed the gap in the AL East t just 1/2 game lead by the New York Yankees. The Yankees only played .500 ball in their last 10 contest. Some have to wonder if they Yankees bats will ever start producing to their expected level. Many batting averages are much lower than expected (Derek Jeter 2.68, Gary Sheffield .267, Jorge Posada .238 and Bernie Williams .252).......{ Read more at the link below }

The Yankees are in the drivers seat currently with a slim 1 game lead but the leads may change numerous times over the course of just a few games. jg2977
Looks like you need to work on your batting. A-Rod and Sheffield's stats should be a lot higher than what they are. A-Rod should be batting about .310 with 35 HR's, and Sheffield should be batting at least .290 with about 27 HR's.
armyofone
Yes sir, except I just sim the games. Not very good at the joystick thing. I prefer to act as the GM. Updated thru 140 games Even though the New York Yankees won just 5 of their last 10 games, they increased their division lead in the AL East to 2 1/2 games. The big reason was the big skid by the Baltimore Orioles, won lost 7 straight games. Alex Rodriguez batted in 9 runs and now is tied with Jason Giambi for the team home run lead with 24. ........{ read more at the link below }
armyofone
Updated thru 150 games With 22 games still remaining in the 2005 season the New York Yankees increased their lead in the AL East to 3 games. jg2977
Hey, the Detroit Tigers are in the lead for the AL Wild Card! What got into them? And how 'bout those New York Mets - best record in baseball! I really like your style of simming, where you just update everything every ten games. It gets kind of tedious reading through every single game. I prefer your approach, because the MLB season is a marathon, and one game in the whole scheme of things usually doesn't mean all that much. Of course, when you get to the playoffs, you need to update what happened every single game. Let's hope that the Yankees hold on and make a nice playoff run! :wtg:
armyofone
Yea, I really don't have time to report on every game. Plus I to try and GM the team over actually playing the games. Thanks for your comments jg! Regular season completed The New York Yankees had what some may call a "off year" but the bottom line is that they won the AL East with a 92-70 record. All things considered it was a highly successful season. Both Alex Rodriguez and Jason Giambi hit team highs with 28 homeruns. Rodriguez and Derek Jeter both batted in 95 runs, while a total of 5 Yankees knocked in 83 or more runs......{ read more at the link below }
jg2977
Florida, San Diego, and Los Angeles all tied for the wild card in the NL. So who gets to go to the playoffs?
armyofone
I really didn't give the NL much attention as I was more concerned with the AL. In the end it didn't matter who I focused on, sadly enough. I need a makeover in 2006. 2005 season completed: The New York Yankees didn't manage much success in the 2005 playoffs. After winning the AL Eastern pennant the Yankees faced the Minnesota Twins (90-72) in the divisional round. After winning the first game the Yankees preceeded to lose the next three games and ultimately end the 2005 season on a sour note. The Boston Red Sox, a wildcard team, ripped apart the league, going 11-1 in route to a World Series Championship.....{ read more at the link below }
armyofone
Start of the 2006 season The New York Yankees knew that they must get younger and attempt to reduce some of their payroll. When Randy Johnson announced his retirement it both hurt and helped. Johnson was the Yankees best starter last season with 17 wins but his heavy contract freed up much room for new free agents. Later the Yankees parted ways with Kevin Brown and Bernie Williams, both gave the Yankees even more room to play with.........{ read more at the link below }
armyofone
10 games - 2006 season The New York Yankees never anticipated a 2-8 start which includes 5 straight losses as the 2006 season started. The Yankees are already 6 games back in the AL East with neither the bats functioning nor the pitching. Hideki Matsui and Tony Womack have started strong with their bats but nobody else is seemingly alive........{ read more at the link below }
armyofone
Thru 20 games - 2006 The defending 2005 AL Eastern champion New York Yankees look anything but a champion thus far in 2006. Off to a 6-14 start and currently 8 1/2 games out of first place. armyofone
Thru 30 games - 2006 The New York Yankees climbed out of AL Eastern gutter as they won 5 of their last 10 games. With a 11-19 record they Yankees stayed 8 1/2 games back in the East. The problems still remain in the bullpen where only Scott Proctor has pitched decent with a 3.05 ERA........{ read more at the link below }
