Why don't overlays work in all stadiums?

Overlays work in all stadiums except:

Old Fenway

Sportsman

Griffith

Metrodome

Forbes

Crosley

Polo Grounds

Shibe

In these stadiums, the overlay defaults to the regular EA overlay.

Does anyone know why that is?

It doesn't make any different whether the stadium is the original or the mod (e.g. Forbes).

I use Trues Comcast overlay but it doesn't make any difference which overlay is used.

The only thing I see in common is that all the parks, with the possible exception of Metrodome, are the most historic parks: Qualcom, Cinergy, Tiger, etc. -- no problem.

i've noticed the old timer stadiums use a slightly different overlay to match the cooperstown effect. I guess the two overlays are separate and you need to mod it separately. Not sure about Metrodome though, ill have to check it out

[edit]

ok, i just checked it out. my YES network overlay appeared in Metrodome without a problem, but as predicted, the old timer stadium had the cooperstown effect, therefore the alternate overlay.

I believe the file is coopov.big

Yep, and Trues has just included cooplay.big and coopov.big files in his Custom Overlay mod so it works in the stadiums that use the Cooperstown effect (see above list). A great big thanks to Trues!

Here's the link to the mod update for anyone who's interested:

I know, it was me who asked for it

Thank you. And we now know how to put our favorite overlay in the classic stadium for ourselves -- thanks to Trues' response to bodhiball's question in the "using overlays in classic stadiums" thread:

Yeah, just make copies of the modded igonly.big and ingame.big files and rename them like so...

rename igonly.big to coopov.big

rename ingame.big to cooplay.big

then place them in your MVP 2005datafrontend dir. That should do it.

It's always wise to backup the original files first.

Thanks again to Trues!
