injuns4life
Its opening day for the Tribe today, as they begin their start to what hopes to be a very promising 2005 season. After a breakout 2004 season from players such as Travis Hafner(.311,28,109) and Victor Martinez(.283,23,108) the Tribe plans to build on those numbers. Their lineup which has 6 returning starters has added 2 propects and a vetran. Grady Sizemore and Coco Crisp are speedsters at the top of the lineup plan to set the table for Jhonny Peralta and other indians sluggers throughout the lineup. Aaron Boone will start at third base for the Tribe is comming off reconstructive knee surgery, will be seeing his first action since the walk-off home run against the Red Sox in the 2003 ALCS. Ron Belliard returns at second as well as Casey Blake at RF. C.C. Sabaithia who has had a ruff go at it as the Ace of the staff has been moved to the number two spot in the rotation as the sinker baller Jake Westbrooke takes his spot. Big Bob Wickman will return as the closer to shut things down at the Jake. The Indians hope to get off on the right foot against the White Sox and Mark Buehrle who are also looking to improve on a mediocre season last year. Lets hope the Indians when against the North Siders(i think) and start the season off right.

injuns4life
You know they say that you can tell how the season is going to go by the first batter of the year and it wasnt promising Grady Sizemore led off with a strikes out followed by two sharp linders to third. It was a pitchers duel until the 6th inning when Buehrle gave up a homerun to Aaron Boone, he regrouped and struck out Casey Blake for the first out. Sizemore reached on an infield hit and stole second, third and home due to a wild throw by White Sox catcher A.J. Piersynski this would be the second and final run the Tribe would score. The wheels also came off for Westbrooke in the 6th when he allowed Scott Podsednik and Frank Thomas on both with singles to right. Podsednik advanced to third on Tomas single and scored on a sac fly by Paul Korneko and Thomas would score on a two-run blast by Jermaine Dye. Arthur Rhodes relieved Jake in the 7th and Rafael Betancourt took over for Rhodes wiht 2 outs in the 7th. Damsao Marte came in to relieve Buehrle in the 8th and struck out the side. Dustin Hermanson was ready for the save when Thomas put one out. The Injuns could not reply to the Thomas home run and los 4-2. injuns4life
Well it seems as if the Tribe will live and die by the long ball as there were 5 in the game. The first inning displayed fabolous pitching but that wore off as Paul Kornerko launched one off the Jumbotron in the second. Frank Thomas added an RBI single in the third to put the Sox up 2-0. Grady Sizemore put the Indians on the board with a lead-off homer in the 4th. The score was 2-1 until the 6th when Casey Blake ripped one off Freddy Garica to tie it up. The score remained tied until the 8 when Jhonny Peralta knocked a two-run homer off Garcia. The game seemed locked up as the Tribe brought in David Riske to set-up up for Wickman but allowed a 3-run blast to Aaron Rowand to give the Sox the lead. Hermanson once again came in for the save and put down the tribe 1-2-3. W.Marte L.Riske S.Hermanson

injuns4life
Jeff Liefer broke the scoreless tie in the 3rd with a homerun over the RF fence(picture soon i hope) which remained the only run until the 5th when Thomas hit his 2nd of the year. The tribe added two more off a Brousard pinch hit home run in the eighth and then one more in the ninth to by Peralta's homer to seal the deal.
