Noob Question: Player Happiness, Does it Matter?

I hate the player happiness thing as guys start complaining when you dont play them enough.. examples:

Koskie demands to play more but I play him everyday excluding a day off here or there vs. lefties.

Hudson demands to play more but he's playing everyday albeit in the #9 hole but he's struggling so much at the plate that I see no reason to move him up.. he's hitting around .200 for much of the season and I'm in early May now

The problem I have is with Carl Crawford. I play the Jays and acquired him. He's been complaining that I don't give him enough playing time even though he plays everyday and leads off and is the only LF on my team. What's up with that?

I have the same problem with hudson in my dynasty. But i have made some pretty sick plays with him.

An easy solution to happiness that tends to get overlooked is a player's contract. This is the same as last year.

The best contract you can give a major league player is a "backup" role.

Typically you'd have to pay him about 1/3 of his salary more for him to accept.

This will boost his happiness/performance and the chemistry of the team.

I try to do this for as many players on my starting roster as possible.

If you can get them to sign as AAA everyday, even better. It's all a matter of $$$.

So Crawford is listed as MLB Indispensible. I already play him everyday, no excuses and he bats either leadoff or second. Yet he keeps complaining about playing time. Is there a remedy besides changing is contract to MLB Backup?

pay him more money then sign him as a MLB backup

Crap...I have no more room to jack up his salary. I guess I just have to put up with him. This sucks, the game should not have been programmed like this. Indispensible playing everyday should be happy because you can't play the guy anymore than you have already.

Thanks for all the tips.

The one I really like is when your players come to you and complain about their performance. I kinda shake my head and scream to the monitor..."Well Play Better Then and Stop Acting Like a Baby".

Maybe I should quit playing this game if this is how I am forced to act. LOL

Actually, I would like to know what is the best control pad to use?

I am currently using a "Saitek P880 Dual Analog" and I am missing some of the features such as the pick off throws and a few others.

I should also post this in another thread of its own.
