roster19
Is it possible to keep those whiny bench/bullpen players happy? They always complain about playing time and personal performance.
rolliefingers08
well personal performance, you can often keep them happy by moving them around. like a closer would be happier if he was setup man. you won't want to do this, but it is what might work. sometimes even guys would rather play every day at AAA than sit in MLB. cybernetic
basically I try to play my regulars 5-6 days a week and mix in the bench guys when they get tired but the bench guys play more often vs lefty pitchers as far as bullpen I have set roles for each of them and find ways to get playing time for all of them.. I have a long guy that goes when the starter goes 5 or less innings regardless if the team is winning or losing and he'll get 1-2 innings, sometimes 3 in a losing situation.. the middle guys throw if the starter goes 6 or in an extra inning game and the setup and closer are self-explanatory.. if the lineup is heavy right-handed a middle guy might pitch an inning as well if the starter goes 6.. I have 2 set up guys a lefty and righty
UncleMo
Trick: I had Charles Thomas who was supposed to be "situational". Well, I played him off the bench when I need a pinch runner and to hit against lefties only. He cried about it, I then punched him in the face (really I put him on the trading block and his unhappy smiley face went to grey, no smile, but not unhappy). Problem solved. I just leave him on the trading block all season long and he shuts his mouth.
JP_Frost
change their contracts, Hairston jr. for example has an everyday contract. If you change that to backup ( might need to spend some more cash ) then he'll accept his role.
cybernetic
not always.. I've tried to change some and they just flat refused.. for example in one of the earlier Ultimate Roster sets I had a dynasty and Miguel Batista was listed as a starting pitcher so when I converted him to a reliever and tried to re-sign him to a long term deal as the closer he refused regardless of how much money I offered
