its a little early to say that Halladay should win the ''CY'' dont you think?

It just adds some realism to it. All those quotes are clubhouse talk things. With the way I pitch with him, he will win the Cy.

Jays Clobber Westbrook

Toronto Blue Jays 5, Cleveland Indians 0

icon_tor.gif 05/14/05 -- Both teams appeared to be locked in a pitcher's duel until Jake Westbrook fell apart in the 5th. A pair of RBI singles from Gregg Zaun and Russ Adams opened the scoring and gave the Jays a 2-0 lead. Westbrook returned for the 6th and gave up a lead-off single to Aubrey Huff. Corey Koskie would follow with a 2-run jack (12) and Frank Catalanotto would later drive in Orlando Hudson with a single as the Jays took a 5-0 lead. Westbrook left the game after that and the bullpen shutout the Jays for the final 3 1/3 innings but they couldn't get anything going offensively. Ted Lilly picked up the win (5-1) in 8 strong innings scattering 4 hits, walking none and striking out 6.

Clubhouse Talk:

"I felt great all night. My curve wasn't really working but I got a lot of groundouts off my change-up." - Ted Lilly

Transactions:

TOR acquires LHP Jamie Walker from the Detroit Tigers for INF Frank Menechino. TOR options RHP Shaun Marcum to AAA Syracuse; recalls INF Desi Relaford.

Jays notes:

Desi Relaford returns to the major leagues after being released by the Colorado Rockies. Relaford was hitting .296 in AAA Syracuse, batting lead-off prior to the call up. Relaford will be a role player and be used mainly in pinch running situation/defensive substitutions late in games. Walker gives the Jays a second lefty out of the 'pen.

Outlook:

Dave Bush (5-0) looks to continue his outstanding season and sweep the Indians tomorrow.

Broussard Gives Tribe Walk Off Win

Cleveland Indians 3, Toronto Blue Jays 2 (11 innings)

icon_tor.gif 05/15/05 -- Tonight's contest was a back-and-forth battle allt he way. The Indians struck first on a Ben Broussard RBI-single to go ahead 1-0 in the first. Aaron Hill responded with an RBI-single of his own to tie it up in the top of the third. Travis Hafner gave the Indians a quick the lead again with a solo drive (8) in the bottom of the frame. Vernon Wells would deliver a game-tying RBI-single in the 5th and that's where it would stand until the 11th, long after starters Dave Bush and C.C. Sabathia had left the game. Sabathia went 7 2/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 10 hits. Bush would go 8 allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. Miguel Batista went 2 scoreless innings for the Jays but they couldn't score any runs. Newly-acquired loogy Jamie Walker came in to pitch in the top of the 11th to Ben Broussard and after missing on the first pitch, he served up a fastball on the outer half of the plate that got smacked out for a walk-off solo home run (6). Walker would get the loss (0-1). Bob Wickman got the win for the Indians (1-0).

Clubhouse Talk:

"It's one of those games where you get a lot of singles but can't cash guys in with runners in scoring position. We had a situation in the 5th with the bases loaded 1-out for the 3-6 hitters and only cash in 1." - Dave Bush

Transactions:

None.

Jays notes:

-Vernon Wells had just his 6th RBI of the season in the 5th inning, he will return to the #3 hole.

-Orlando Hudson batted in the #2 hole today and was very successful going 3-for-5.

Outlook:

Off-day tomorrow before the Jays head to Minnesota on Tuesday.

Twins Double Up on Jays, Lose Silva

Minnesota Twins 6, Toronto Blue Jays 3

icon_tor.gif 05/17/05 -- The Jays got off to a great start as all of the first 3 hitters reached with singles in the top of the first as the Jays took a 1-0 lead. However, the second hit knocked Twins starter Carlos Silva out with a fractured leg. Team doctors said he'd probably miss about 50 games on the DL. Francisco Liriano relieved Silva and got out of the frame without further damage after a strikeout and a double play ball. The Twins got to Jays starter Francisco Rosario with a 3-run shot off the bat of Luis Rivas in the bottom of the 3rd. Rosario gave up 2 more runs, 1 more each in the 4th and 5th innings as the Twins stretched the lead to 5-1. Aubrey Huff homered off Liriano in the 6th to cut the lead to 5-2. Liriano would go 7 innings in relief of Silva and allow just that 1 run to the Jays. Juan Rincon relieved him in the 8th and gave up a 2-out solo jack to Aubrey Huff, his 2nd of the game (7) but that was as close as it would get. Justin Morneau would add a solo jack for the Twins in the bottom of the frame and Joe Nathan would shut the Jays down 1-2-3 in the 9th for his 5th save. Liriano got the win (2-0) and Rosario fell to 0-1 in his first big league start.

Clubhouse Talk:

"That Liriano kid is filthy. For the most part, him and Rosario are very similar pitchers, except that he comes from the left side." - Corey Koskie

Transactions:

TOR options 2B/INF Desi Relaford to Triple-A Syracuse; recalls OF Gabe Gross.

MIN places RHP Carlos Silva on the 15-day DL with a fractured leg.

Jays notes:

-Orlando Hudson 2-for-4 in the #2 hole.

-Aubrey Huff homered twice in his final two at-bats after previously going 0-for-2.

Outlook:

Josh Towers hopes to lift the Jays to victory and tie the series tomorrow.

Just something to note: This will only be a 1 season dynasty as the contracts are way off on a lot of minor leaguers so the payroll is only about 46 mil when it should be about 80 mil. This will make it impossible to sign any free agents or really do anything in the off-season because for some reason all minor leaguers are signed to a 1-year/100k salary as well as Adams, Hill and a few others on the big league roster.

Twins Take 2nd Straight Over Jays

Minnesota Twins 3, Toronto Blue Jays 1

icon_tor.gif 05/18/05 -- Josh Towers wasn't particularily sharp in tonight's game as he yielded a pair of homers to the Minnesota Twins. The first off the bat of Shannon Stewart in the 3rd (8) and in the next inning a 2-run shot by Justin Morneau (9). The Jays offense couldn't get much going off Kyle Lohse either which compounded the problem. A perfectly executed hit-and-run after Russ Adams had led-off the 6th with a single with the Orlando Hudson at the plate. Hudson promptly doubled to the left-center-field gap to plate Adams all the way from first. That was all the Jays could get off Twins pitching though as they fell by a count of 3-1. Towers got the loss (2-4) and with the win Lohse also moved to 2-4 on the season. Orlando Hudson had another productive night going 1-for-3 with a sac-bunt and an RBI double.

Clubhouse Talk:

"I'm really hitting well of late and I feel very comfortable in the #2 spot." - Orlando Hudson

Transactions:

None.

Jays notes:

-Orlando Hudson now has 12 RBI on the season.

-Russ Adams went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Outlook:

Roy Halladay hopes to end the Jays 2-game skid and avoid the Twin sweep.

Halladay Starts Season Off the Right Way

Toronto Blue Jays 2, Tampa Bay Devil Rays 0

0404014ye.jpg0404023sw.jpg

Above: Orlando Hudson slides in safely with an RBI double to open the scoring in the 2nd.

Right: Vernon Wells hits a solo HR in the 6th.

icon_tor.gif 04/04/05 -- Roy Halladay was in complete control all game en route to a complete game three-hit shutout of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the season opener for both teams. Halladay didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning (a lead-off single to Travis Lee). He would be left stranded on third after a strikeout and a couple of ground outs ended the threat. Halladay would strike out the side in the 7th and didn't allow another hit until the 8th which was also a lead-off single. He was erased on a double play though by the next batter. Carl Crawford doubled with 2-out in the 9th for the Devil Rays third hit and was also stranded, this time on a ground out by Julio Lugo. The Jays got the scoring started in the 2nd after Corey Koskie singled to lead off the inning, Orlando Hudson drove him in on an RBI-double into the left field corner to go up 1-0. Vernon Wells added a solo home run in the 6th with one out to make it 2-0 and that was all Halladay needed as he went the distance allowing just three hits and struck out seven.

Outlook: The Jays will send Ted Lilly to to the hill tomorrow against fellow lefty Scott Kazmir in the middle game of the three game set. The final game will see Dave Bush face off with Casey Fossum. With all 3 games in the series set to be against lefty starters, it's likely that the Jays will mix up the lineup a few times to get some of their lefty batters in there at least for a game a piece.

Jays Power Up to Avoid Sweep

Toronto Blue Jays 5, Minnesota Twins 2

icon_tor.gif 05/19/05 -- Early on the game seemed like a pitcher's duel and that Roy Halladay would get no run support again, but in the 4th Russ Adams led-off with a double and scored on a Vernon Wells single. The Jays would add 3 in the 7th on a Corey Koskie RBI-double after Aubrey Huff (11) and Orlando Hudson (4) had hit solo homers earlier in the inning. In the bottom of the frame, the Twins got to Halladay with a pair of runs on a Shannon Stewart RBI-single. They would later have runners on 2nd and 3rd with 2-outs and the lead trimmed to 4-2. Halladay would get Justin Morneau to pop out to end it though with the 2-run lead still intact. A solo jack from Aubrey Huff (12), his 2nd of the game, in the top of the 9th would stretch the lead to 3 runs. The bullpen would hold the lead for a 5-2 Jays victory. With the win, Roy Halladay improves to 7-2 on the season. Twins rookie Scott Baker fell to 0-1 with the loss allowing 4 runs in 8 innings.

Clubhouse Talk:

"We're making progress with our offense. We've struggled a bit the past couple weeks but we have a good offense and when everything is clicking we can be dangerous." - John Gibbons

Transactions:

None.

Jays notes:

-Roy Halladay has recorded a decision in each of his 9 starts this season (7-2)

-Aubrey Huff recorded his 3rd 2-homer game as a Blue Jay.

Outlook:

The Jays head back to Toronto to take on the Washington Nationals. Expected starters for the Jays are Ted Lilly, Dave Bush and Francisco Rosario. Rosario's start may be skipped for a call-up from AAA (possibly Dustin McGowan).

Nats Errors Prove Costly as Jays Complete Sweep

Toronto Blue Jays 4, Washington Nationals 0

icon_tor.gif 05/22/05 -- The Jays struck first in the bottom of the 7th after both starting pitchers pitched 6 scoreless innings. Recently recalled rookie Shaun Marcum threw 7 scorless innings making his best start in his short career. Alex Rios hit an RBI-triple and Gregg Zaun later drove him in with a single. In the 8th, the Jays padded the lead after Nationals third-baseman Junior Spivey threw away a routine ground-out off the bat of Aubrey Huff into left-field. Vernon Wells came around to score all the way from first and so did Huff. Marcum would get his first major league victory improving to 1-1 on the season.

Transactions:

None.

Jays notes:

-Alex Rios' RBI-triple was later ruled a double with a throwing error to right-fielder Jose Guillen allowing him to reach third.

-Jason Frasor picked up his 1st save of the season in 2 innings of work.

-The 2 Jays runs scored in the 8th were unearned as they were the result of a Junior Spivey error.

Outlook:

The Jays will welcome the Boston Red Sox for a three-game set starting Tuesday.

Jays Blank Sox, Pull Within 2 of Division Lead

Toronto Blue Jays 6, Boston Red Sox 0

icon_tor.gif 05/24/05 -- Vernon Wells opened the scoring for the Jays in the 4th, scoring on a fielding error by Boston shortstop Edgar Renteria which was a botched double play ball that would have ended the inning. The Jays would add a 2nd run in the 7th on an RBI-single by Russ Adams. In the eighth, Vernon Wells sparked a rally doubling with one out and scored the first of 4 runs in the inning off rookie Abe Alvarez, en route to a 6-0 shutout victory. Josh Towers pitched briliantly going 7 1/3 innings, scattering just 5 hits (4 of them singles). He would pick up the win improving to 3-4. Boston right-hander Bronson Arroyo took the loss going 7 innings allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits. With the win, the Jays move to 2 games back of these same Red Sox and look to potentially tie them with a series sweep this weekend.

Transactions:

Signed minor league free agent OFs Marcus McBeth and Bill Pember. McBeth was assigned to Double-A New Hampshire and Pember to Single-A Dunedin. They will both likely fill reserve roles for the time being and if ability permits them they will move into more full time roles.

Outlook:

Jays ace Roy Halladay matches up with Curt Schilling in the middle game of the weekend set.

Jays Edge Sox, Take 6th Straight

Toronto Blue Jays 6, Boston Red Sox 0

icon_tor.gif 05/25/05 -- Curt Schilling was wild all night, giving up an unusual amount of basehits but managed to get out of jams with runners on base repeatedly until the 3rd where he gave up a total of 6 basehits and just 2 runs. The Jays would leave the bases loaded after a double play ball with the bases loaded off the bat of Alex Rios. Thankfully, Roy Halladay was as sharp as ever, scattering just 5 hits (all singles) to the Red Sox in eight innings of work en route to a 2-1 victory. His lone run allowed would be a bleeder up the middle with the bases loaded, the 2nd runner was thrown out at the plate to end the inning by center-fielder Vernon Wells. Miguel Batista would pitch a 1-2-3 9th inning with a pair of strikeouts to nail down his 13th save. Halladay improves to 8-2 with the win and now leads the league alone by a win over 4 other pitches who are at 7 wins (including his counterpart Curt Schilling).

Transactions:

TOR options LHP Jamie Walker to AAA Syracuse and recalls OF Gabe Gross.

Outlook:

Souothpaw Ted Lilly (6-1) takes the mound for the Jays tomorow night as they go for the sweep and to tie the same Red Sox for the AL East lead. The Jays will also be looking to win their seventh straight game. Following the game, the Jays will welcome the Minnesota Twins for a 3-game weekend tilt.

You might want to consider trading Batista. Although he was dominant for me in my first year (Roaids Award, 40 SV, 2.57 ERA, 1 bsv) He has progressed for the worst. Fastball down 5mph, etc. Jason Frasor is my closer

Just a suggestion, good luck.
