NFSH Tool help needed

I don't think this has anything to do with nfsh tool. You don't compress it with nsfshtool I strongly believe. I've never heard of that method.

Sorry for that I didn't explain carefully. What I meant was that how to compress .fsh to QFS Compression.

Actually NFSHTool is used to compress to .QFS format. NFSHTool is used to decompress and compress the .fsh files. When editing the index file in the folder of the decompressed .fsh files (ex: cram32) there should be a line that is just "FSH" at the top. Just change that to "QFS" and save then double click the index file to recompress.

SO when I want to compress .FSH files in model.big to QFS Format. I would have to extract those .FSH files out of the model.big right?Wat tool should I use to decompress and extract .fsh files out of model.big? After that right click on .fsh files and open with NFSHtool.exe then wat?

You can use EA Graphics Editor (EAGE) to extract the .fsh files from models.big. Once you do this, right-click on the .fsh file and open w/nfshtool - this will create a folder w/many bmps and an index.fsh file. Right-click on the index.fsh file and open w/Notepad. The 3rd line will say "FSH" - change this to "QFS", close Notepad and say yes to save. Then right-click on index.fsh file again but this time open w/nfshtool - this will automatically compress the .fsh file you extracted with QFS compression. (you can delete the folder nfshtool created after you're done)

somehow after I associate .fsh file to open with nfshtool.exe then double clickit, it gaves me unsuccessful termination.....

can any .fsh files to be compressed to QFS format or only ones that starts with c. For example c010.fsh. Are every .fsh in model.big texture files or

If you know how to create a batch file for it, I think you should be able to compress them all at once, but I am not positive of this.

I believe any .fsh file can be compressed using the QFS format.

Thanx for replying BIG SHMOOZ, I am trying to figure out how to compress at once now.

Don't worry I am using bigGUI to export .fsh files out now and compression them to OFS

BTW when I use EAGrah how come I can't select all so I can extract .fsh files at once. This is very annoying how I have to click each single .fsh files then press extract.

That is probably the one of only 2 advantages that biggui has over eagraph.exe. The other one being that in biggui you can view how many files you have in the .big file withouht having to add anything to the file. As opposed to eagraph that in order to see how many files you have, you have to be adding a file to it. In every other aspect eagraph is much better (including being able to actually view the files without have to extract them first)

However this is why you lose out in that it is now harder to extract. (it's a tradeoff I guess)

after I import those QFS format overwrite the original .fsh files the total for model.big is little bit bigger is this normal? isn't QFS format supposed to compress even more?

ok here is wat I did to model.big yesterday

Experiment #1

I have compressed the face c###.fsh files to QFS Format

I import QFS format c###.fsh files into model.big and played the game and it runs without trouble

Experiment #2

Compressed the uniform f###.fsh files to OFS Format

I import QFS format f###.fsh files into model.big and played the game and it runs without trouble

Experiment #3

Compressed the uniform u###.fsh files to QFS Format

I importe QFS format u###.fsh files to model.big and played the game and it runs with trouble. I can get into game menu but when I starts a game it fails to load, it stops loading at about half way.

Question:

Wat am I doing wrong?

I did the same steps as I compress .fsh files to QFS format.

just double-check what you did. all my uniforms I release (uxxx.fsh) are QFS compressed

EDIT: I don't think it's really important to compress the fxxx.fsh files b/c they are very small anyway

I checked model.big and I found quite many of u###.fsh are stated no which means not compressed but I did compress it to QFS format

Maybe because I can't import 18 u###.fsh at a time? maybe I need for example import a set t a time? like u000a.fsh u000b.fsh so on

If you are using biggui to import your files, stop dong so. Use eagraph.exe instead. Also make sure that yuo leave your models.big in read only mode when not inserting anything into the file.

I am actually wondering if your models.big file has not become corrupted. In order to check out if this is so, back up your current models.big & try using the default models.big in your game instead & see if the game loads up. If it does, it means your models.big is corrupted.

Oh BIGBULLY thank you for suggesting EAGraphicEditor to import .fsh files. everything works 100% now. Thank you thank you tank you~~~~~~~~~~~
