ixcuincle
I tried as hard as I could to win today's MVP Baseball 2005 game today but 2 blunders in 2 consecutive games in the 9th inning when I had a chance to win are really starting to frustrate me. The first thing is the consistent steals. No matter what I do , the computer continues to try to steal 2nd when the runner is on 1st. I have tweaked almost every option available under Running , changed User run steal delay from -50 , to 50 , and this blunder continues. The runners keep trying to steal for 2nd without my permission at random times during an at-bat , when they will obviously be tagged out. The second part is a very unrealistic aspect where a runner will automatically advance on a fly ball when he should be staying at first. During a point today someone flied out and the runner on 1st stayed at first , then I take a glance and he's already on second base! Somehow he felt like he could defy the rules of baseball and try to advance on a fly ball. Obviously , the computer threw to 1st , ending another frustrating inning with a "double play". These two blunders constantly eliminate runners from base and are primarily the reason why I can hit occasionally but have so much difficultly with runners crossing the plate. If there is any kind of slider , mod , or tweak that will end these inaccuracies and return MVP Baseball 2005 to a realistic experience please help. Thanks. (by the way I try to page up , page down. MVP Baseball 2004 had an option called stop which I was reading about earlier in the posts , "home" key on keyboard (I play keyboard not joystick). Again today someone hit a base hit and a runner at 1st ran to 2nd , then felt like being a hero and ran to third. I tried to stop him and yelled frantically at my computer but he insisted on running to third no matter how many times I pressed home. I pressed page down but it was too late...High heat 2003 had an option for the computer to automatically control baserunning so I never had mishaps then , perhaps there is such an option in MVP?) cybernetic
I dont have that problem but I find I can never throw out the computer basestealers or steal consistently.. almost every time the catcher will throw me out regardless how fast the guy runs or pitch speed/location
ixcuincle
main reason is probably the keyboard...i'm too lazy to get a proper controller for this game. This same problem also occurs in 2004 too...many a game has been lost by silly baserunning errors which could have been omitted
Sean O
Baserunning sucks if you use the keyboard, but I find I can throw out baserunners pretty consistantly. I find that you need to let the bar go all the way to the max level, which will reduce your accuracy, but still a lot of times the throw will be dead on. No matter what you do, you can't steal with the keyboard, it's unfortunately one of those things..
ixcuincle
just scouting around...what are prices for a proper controller? If it's over 10 dollars I'm going to be thrifty and wait.
AstroEric
I paid $12 for a cheap controller at Wal-Mart. It works fine, once you re-map the controls. Game Elements Recoil. At the very least, it's better than the keyboard. --Eric
sdoyle7798
How did you get a Wally World controller to work? I coulda sworn the game called for certain controllers (Logitech and Saitek)
carter
I could be wrong, but if your runners continuously steal 2nd, is it because you are pushing up on the keyboard when swinging? Maybe you need to remap your keys. Make the advance runner to second button something else. Just a thought...
slurpster03
ahhh gone are the days of mvp 2003 where there was a keyboard option to lead off. I find that you can steal if the catcher has an accuracy and a strength of 70/75, and you get lucky and get a curveball or a changeup. Then again...stealing off of Hideo Nomo or a knuckleballer'll do the trick too.

Kelvarr
How did you get a Wally World controller to work? I coulda sworn the game called for certain controllers (Logitech and Saitek) That was MVP 04. MVP 05 has a much larger selection...it even recognizes my XBox controller properly (after installing the drivers of course).
onewaydown
I'm a fan of my Saitek P880. You can get it for $15 from Saitek's website ($6 s&h tho) or try to find it locally (I bought mine at EB) or on the eBay. I think something is messed up with your keyboard config. The only way the runners would steal or continue to run on a fly ball is by hitting the Advance All Runners button/key (or the appropriate base button/key). That sets the steal signal and makes all the runners go past the normal computer "stop" on a fly ball. (Anyone know if there is a way to make that a manual option like in 2004?) The computer isn't defying the rules of baseball... they're listening to Dale Sveum. (inside Sox joke)
