philliesfan980
Hi everyone! Long time lurker first time poster. I've been playing this game on the xbox for the past few months but I decided to give it a shot for the PC mainly because of the great things that you guys have done on this forum for the game. I'm having a problem with the game locking up on me during the actual gameplay. It really various how many innings I can complete, but it ranges from 3-7. I have an AMD 2800, 2 gigs of ram, and an ATI All in Wonder x800 , with 256 megs of ram. My system should be good enough to run this game. I also play without outlook and AIM running. I don't have any other problems with any games on my PC locking up. Any suggestions? I really want to be able to play this game! EDIT: Forgot to mention that I'm running with patch 3 and default rosters.
baseballfans
I guess is a bug. My pc freezes sometime even when loading the game. But second tried after restart I was able to play. Usually this occur when too many replay or animation actions. Or is trying to load too many graphics in your ram. Base on your EXPENSIVE video card it should handle the game. Your best bet to run it smoothly is turn off any extra animation U don't need and try some of the camera mod that is available to DL In this site, to prevent some camera angle actions that cause u to crash. ixcuincle
did you update your video card drivers? According to basic logic your computer should be more than good enough to run MVP on its highest settings , I run mvp with a laptop , 512 mb of ram and a 32 mb video card and it works perfectly fine...must be a driver error try updating
Lars777
AMD is a great gaming chip...its faster than intel...but the downside of that is AMD runs hot....what are your temps on the cpu when gameplay is going on? I say this because I had an AMD chip before I switched back to Intel....And What I found is I had similar issues as you describe....so I took off my side panel and put a household fan on it and low and behold games again ran perfectly.......also you might look into reapplying some thermal paste between the the cou and rectifier....monthes of the chip getting hot the paste breaks down and there becomes gaps between the two which greatly hinder proper cooling.....My buddie had the same issue as you speak of and he took off his side panel put a house hold fan there and he has been playing games without a freeze or lockup now for weeks......just something to consider................................................. philliesfan980
Thanks for all the tips guys! I tried the Omega (might be wrong name, but something like that) drivers for ATI. Same problem still occurs. As for the different camera angels, I'll give it a shot, but it mainly freezes up during the pitching interface. Doesn't really seem to be any pattern to it at all. As for my chip (AMD), I do agree that it runs hotter than an Intel. I went out a few weeks ago and bought a brand new CPU fan (one of those $30 jobs) off of newegg and got some artic silver paste. Still runs pretty hot during gaming (about 45 C), but nothing unheard of. Like I said before, I don't have any trouble playing games more graphically intense than this one. I don't even turn up my settings all the way. Very fustrating. I'd give my left arm for this to work on my PC! Its most likely going to be the last PC baseball game for a while too. lavi
You might want to slap me for this but did you try uninstalling the game and deleting the MVP folder and the MVP folder in my documents? Also, have you installed any mods? Best bet is to go under graphics options and pick automatic to see if it still crashes. For instance i have an ATI and I must leave on Vertical Sync or my game plays like it's in fast forward
philliesfan980
Well guys, tried doing everything that you said and the game still crashes on me at random points throughout the game. Guess its time to give up after about 10 new installs and various setting changes.
