Don
I have downloaded Fraps and now I have no idea how to use it! I checked the help section and I dont understand. Can anyone teach me?
xiberger
Well, what is it you want to do with Fraps? In the menu, you can select between "General" (main settings), "FPS" (if you want to see the frames per second), "Movies" (if you're into moving pictures), and "Screenshots" (probably the most common use). Adjust your settings and you're ready to go. Most important of all: Don't close Fraps! Otherwise you won't be able to use the program in the game... spitoon
Basically you just make sure it's running in the background before you start MVP. Click on the 'Screenshots' tab to set up the key you use to capture screens (default F10 in V2.5.1), and then run the game...any time you want to capture a screenie, just press F10 and the screen will be saved in C:FRAPS (by default). View the screen using any image viewer.
Don
Ok, but i want to save movies from MVP.
Filthy57
Then you would hit the video button (default F9)
Don
how long can the movie be?
xiberger
I suppose movies can be recorded as long as there's free space on your hard disk. Don't know for sure, though. Just try and see...
spitoon
Doesn't the free version cap the length of movies at 30sec?
ixcuincle
yes but if you have the "real" version it's unlimited to the extent of how much your hard drive can hold. I would advise against making videos unless you have a really good computer. edit : When I recorded a touchdown in Madden 2004 the game suddenly began to lag and it was pretty hard to move around. Be warned.
biker_jim_uk
but why do you need good control in a replay?
UncleMo
fraps causes lag while recording a replay, but, once you go to your C:/Fraps to look at your videos you'll see that the lag is not there much at all. In a worst case scenario, at least it is great for print screens. Also, try planetgamecam.com if you don't care about recording with no sound.-Mo
sdoyle7798
Mo, I tried planetgamecam.com, and created a profile for MVP 05. Whenever I try and launch the game from the profile (as the program says you must do to record), my game crashes before the loading screen comes up. What do I do? UncleMo
hmmm, crap, make sure you created it correctly. I think it took me two tries as well so go and try again and make sure you're doing it correctly. It has been a long time since I've done it with planet game cam. If Fraps makes you happy with their 30 second rule, use fraps. planet game cam should b used only if lag is a problem or if you want to record an entire game or a large portion of a game really. sdoyle7798
Yeah, Fraps is a BIG problem with me, video-wise. Its like it moves frame-by-frame. Let me put it like this... I use it on the replay. If the play takes about 10 seconds total, Fraps will make it run so slow that the half of the replay takes 30 seconds to record. I can tell, because at some point the replay returns to normal speed. This is at 800x600x32 with everything but 3D crowd depth jacked up (don't have a problem with playing the game at this resolution). Screenshots are fine, video just bites it. I remember the first time I created a profile with Planet GameCam it took me at least two tries to set up a profile correctly, and even now, when I alt-tab out of MVP, and go back in with GameCam open, it crashes. However, I tried both, and I really think that the quality from Planet GameCam is better. Nowadays, I only use Fraps when I need sound.
sdoyle7798
Well, I wouldn't really need sound. This MAY make me sound like a geek, BUT... I was going to try to use video's from MVP to make a sort of highlight clip for some games (kinda like a Sportscenter report). I'd be doing the voice over, so I really wouldn't need the sound, I'd just use movie maker. So, am I a nerd for wanting to do this? :chin: Edit: BTW, forgot to put this part on when I posted this. I'd be posting them on here, mostly for the sake of humor...
