Just finished my first clips video (looking for feedback)

I was a little bored so I edited a little clips package together, I'm adding some final touches to it now. It's put to The Beautiful People, which is a great song to put clips to.

It's mainly just great plays. And it is a little choppy, but I think it's pretty good.

it's very good. 8 out of 10. If you ever see that show "This week in Baseball" on FOX , they have a highlight reel of the week's plays that is a lot like what you did , nice job. My only issues were the music (because I'm not into that , too much bass , sorry) and the unrealistic stadiums (it would be better if you got the authentic stadiums instead of the default EA ones) otherwise the highlights you selected and the "replays" where you would rewind the play and then repeat it were top-notch. I think my favorite was where a guy hit a home run , waved it fair , lifted his hand up and then ran off ,after which it was repeated again...very good job

I would try to do a highlight reel for any of my EA Sports games but I'm too lazy.

Hi. Thanks for making a video. I'll go easy on you since it was your first one.

I give it a 7. The music was good, but did not go with the video. Your music was hard, while the plays were not going with the feel of your music. Your music, to sum it up was like this:

RAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!

The plays show players running to a ball and then fielding. Cut out some of that running so you show more plays actually happening, and cut out some of that dead time to reduce the boring parts, thus keeping your viewers attention.

Some people will hate your music, some people will love it, etc etc. Everybody's music taste is different. So keep changing your music types to keep the people happy and to throw them a curve each time.

I liked the music. Good try with the video. Didn't go together, but I'm glad you went out and tried that song. I maybe would not have, but I'm glad to see you tried.

Your footage needs a bit more. Right at 40 seconds into it, there was a dive that was great. That needs tob earlier to keep the viewers attention. There are too many "watch me field the ball" plays or "watch me do this" plays. Break up those plays but having something different. Like that diving catch should have been earlier to break up those less interesting plays.

I see you're playing around with camera angles. Some angles you chose were better than a beginner, so I think that made your video much better. You should see some of the beginner's videos around here. Blah. I think because you tried to give us the extra zoom and the extra zoom out that was great. Be sure to know when to use the extra zoomed out view-I think there were times were were too far away from the action. The more you do this the better you can judge. One small example is the play that starts at about 44 seconds. Zoom in there and really give it to us. That was a nice one you recorded. Just brin us closer to the action when we should be right there.

I think you should consider doing more videos. I love to watch them. Some others do too. I even make them myself....too often. Well, I hope you took this as constructive criticism and that you decide to make more. Overall, you did a pretty darn good job, and compared to other beginners, you did great.

I used that song because it has alot of audio cues in. About 80% of the video is in sync with the music, when the music is solw, the footage is slow when the music is fast the footage is fast.

Those two shots are the same play, something which I did quite alot, different views of the same play cut together to show the same play fluidly. I also took those shots when I didn't know that I was going to do the video, so I wouldv'e got some better shots, I'd have kept the back end where Helton is catching the ball, and would have had the camera close-up and following young fielding the ball for the first shot.

When it comes to editing I'm not a beginner, I've done it for quite a while, but this was my first crack at some sort of a highlights package.

Thank you so much for feedback though, I'm sure I'll read it again if I do another video.

Nice work, man! I wish I had a better video card because when I record a (re)play it's choppy as hell...

You don't really need a good video card, although it helps. But mine is the really bad nVidia GeForce2 64mb. What I did to combat my lack of quality video card was capture the video with as little fps as I could, then just speed up the footage in the editor to run it at normal speed and the quality is there.

I've got a 64 MB card, too (ATI Radeon Mobility 9000). What program are you recording with? Fraps? I'll definitely try speeding up my material and see how it works out. Thanks for the info!
