Has MVP 2005 finally hit a wall?

It seems to me with the slowness of the MVPmods community lately, mod creation slowing down, and the major dynasties not being updated anymore and new ones not being created, that MVP 2005 has finally hit a wall where its kind of... gotten old.

Of course school has started again, the NFL has started up, Madden came out, NHL 06 game out, but to me, someone who doesnt have any of the other games and doesnt follow NFL, the game has gotten a bit stale too.

This year it lasted a lot longer for me and for everyone else it seems though, as last year the game started to get old by July.

your opinions on the subject?

I think there are still plenty of mods that can come out. The big thing is that the season is starting to wind down, so people are switching attention to other sports, as well as their commitments.

I know I personally have a few things coming up, and a whole lot of other potential projects.

It's to be expected, NHL 06 is a damn good game this year after all, there'll be a surge of interest again during the playoffs and again next year depending on how EA designs it's college baseball game i.e whether there will be a mlb moddable mvp 06 - we already know with the espn presentation the pbp audio commentary is going to be different so that rules out mlb players names being spoken in a modded ncaa game. And most importantly if we can't realign and translate the NCAA divisions and schedules to MLB then it's pretty much a no go for dynasty play in 06.

It's my guess that MVP '05 is what gamers are going to be stuck with for a while as the only arcade mlb baseball sim on PC. And if that's the case a lot of modders here will no doubt be doing the best they can do to make as accurate a representation of MVP '06 possible despite this exclusive licence idiocy.

It's too bad you guys don't play Total Classics. We just had a MAJOR release earlier this month and are already working on the next phase. With 120 classic teams to choose from, I'll be playing this all winter (and next year as well).

It hasn't gotten stale for me at all. I play along with the real schedule, and am on the verge of locking up the AL West @ 82-70 with a 7.5 game lead, which has been well earned. I just came off an 8 game winning streak to finally give me some cushion, after fighting off the Angels most of the season.

Furthermore, the races are TIGHT in the other divisions as well. NYY finally overcame Boston to grab a 1.5 game lead, and Florida is barely staying alive with a 1/2 game lead over the Mets in the NL East, with Philly trailing by a game, and Atlanta down by 4. Minnesota and St. Louis are leading their divisions by 3 games, and the Dodgers and San Diego have a dog fight in the NL West. LA is up by 1 game.

The Wild Card will belong to either NYY or Boston in the AL, and about 6 or 7 teams fighting for the Wild Card spot in the NL.

With all that being said, my season is getting interesting. Keeping my place in the West, and watching the scoreboards as well.

My opinion is that I think you are getting into other things now. No big deal. Remember, when we first got this game football was over with. Spring training was almost ready to begin. Now as you write this, football is in its third week. The NHL is back. The baseball season, no matter how much we love it is going to leave us soon. For me, it is a sad time when the World Series is over. I love baseball that much.

One suggestion: why don't you try Total Classics 3? It's like having a whole new game, it is that good.

I apologize but I haven't played MVP 2005 in a while :( mainly because when I play pro I can't hit and when I play rookie my team feels like a bunch of hitting machines...on rookie I will explode in hits with 15 while the computer always tends to have 3 or 4 but on pro it's a completely different story. Until I stop being lazy and tweak the sliders some more MVP will gather more dust , I got my Madden franchise and NHL 06 to tend to

I will be hanging in here with Total Classics 3 + + +'s for many a years from now. It is a keeper and will hold it's value for quite awhile for me and many others as well. I will also be venturing into my Classic Madden stuff occasssionally. Musle Mike from football-freaks.com has created a truly amazing Classic Football Set.

Basically I feel set with these two but will also be anxiously awaiting the College Baseball game from EA. I will purchase the new NHL PC game as well as the upcoming NBA game and mess with them a bit. But that will be mostly to see what's new and those don't seem to have any lasting interest for me.

Total Classics has proven to be the very satisfying longterm fix I have been hoping would appear on the scene for years. The talent, time and effort those main contributors put into this game will keep many a oldtime baseball enthusiat entertained for years. My hats off to FuzZ, AlexTony, Capa, Hory & Jim825 as the ones that likely put in the most time and effort. I know I probably left some heavy contributors out and wish I had been able to find more time to contribute more myself. But with what that nucleus of guys brought to us there wasn't anything I could have contributed that would have made it any better than it is.

Thanks Guys !!! I feel I am stuck in the '60s and lovin' every second of it !!!

I just started a dynasty, and I think I will play this game till the CD is too scratched to be read. I plan on updating my stadiums for next season and creating more. Unless NBA Live 06 is beyond amazing I will stick with MVP for a long while.

The Stadium updates sound great! And all of your (and other modders) work are well appreciated. I plan on playing MVP 05 next season too, unless by some miracle something even better comes out. Which is highly doubtful.

I love the Classics too, which I will dig into during the fall and winter months.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good College Hoops game for the PC, something to pass the time until Opening Day 06.

Once I get my DSL, I'm going to download TC 3 maybe up my MVP05 gameplay a little better. As of now, I'm trying to find the right dynasty as I still want to play with MVP.

NCAA, MADDEN and NHL don't intrest me this year. I might get TW PGA 06 though. :D

Yeah...I am waiting for a college hoops game for the pc. I love college basketball better than the NBA and it would be a lot more fun for me to coach a Maryland Terrapins dynasty than the Los Angeles Lakers dynasty.

Unfortunately the only 2 college basketball games available are only out for consoles , and I don't own a ps2 or xbox. :hic:

I own a couple of College Hoops games for the consoles, but I've never owned one for the PC. I would be looking forward to adding some cool mods for it.

I like the NBA too, but not near as much as I do College BB. I would love to take the Hoosiers back to the Final Four! :party1:

After months of installing mods, tweaking sliders, and adjusting datafiles, I've finally got the game I want. Now I can enjoy playing it for a change, so the slowdown in mod releases doesn't really bother me.

I hated being in the middle of a dynasty and seeing cyberface packs coming out every week. :wall:

I think its been over for a while now. The modding has really slowed down as well as downloads. I'll probably put away the game and revisit it when next season comes.

I think next season the modding may pick up again. I won't abandon this game. Nothing is comming out fo the PC next year, and if so it will probbly be a while before it is moddable, if at all.

You can count on me to keeep making mods.

thats great. I am stocking up on mods for next season however, because the still is the best baseball game out there. Im not really into college baseball at all, so forget about me picking that up.

Looking forward to your Turner Field.

personally for me i had a strange year. the minor league project was rolling on at a good pace. then. i learned i had to move, then by the time the dust settled after that- the new semester hit. add to that the massive scramble i'm still doing to catch up financially from moving (damn it's expensive), it just left no time. for me it's not a matter of other sports starting up. for me baseball is and will always be #1. i like football (and hockey too) but until the series is completely over i don't focus on any other sports. even right now on sundays i'll watch a MLB game over a football game, i'll occassionaly check in on the football game until the MLB game is finished. the home stretch in baseball IMO is "usually" the sweetest run in any sport.

anyhow that's what happened for me, and i'm sure others here too. next season i'll either pick up where i left off with MVP 05 or, if take 2 puts out a good PC game (which supposedly they will put out a PC game who knows if it'll be any good) and the community starts rolling with that instead, then that's where i'll direct my attention.

February 2006, there will be new rosters.

For people who don't want to by ESPN baseball, they can always download my mod.
