Yankeesrulz
White Sox Fall To Indians in Opener 3-2 Chicago AP - The White Sox lose their season and home opener with a heart breaking 3-2 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Indians were the first ones to strike first with a Juan Gonzalez 2-run homerun in the top of the 4th inning off Mark Buerhle to give them a 2-0 lead. Then in the 7th inning, the White Sox came back, Juan Uribe with a RBI double scoring Podsednik from 2nd to make it 2-1, after him followed Frank Thomas with a huge RBI double to right field to tie up the game at 2-2. The White sox failed to score in that inning, going to the top of the 8th inning, After Buerhle retired the first batter they took him out and brought Cliff Politte in. It was a strange move because they coulda stayed with Buerhle or brought in Cotts after. Politte retired his first hitter which was Coco Crisp but right after with 2 outs, Indians 1B Ben Broussard doubled to left which was really close to being a homerun, setting the stage for Victor Martinez. Pitching Coach Don Cooper came out to settle down the reliever and give time for Neal Cotts to warm up. Politte's 2nd pitch to Martinez resulted in a big 2 out RBI single to left field scoring the go ahead run from 2nd base. That would be all the Indians would need as Rafael Betancourt and Bob Wickman combined for two scoreless innings to give the Indians a 3-2 win in the season opener. KerryW
This has the makings of a great dynasty to follow, despite your choice of team. I like your 'post game' comments in particular. I'll definately be following this one.

Yankeesrulz
White Sox Win 7-6 Thriller in the 9th vs. Indians Thomas Drives in the winning run Chicago AP- Freddy Garcia took the mound for the White Sox as they tried to get their first win of the season against the Indians after losing a tough one last night. The Indians sent Jake Westbrook to the hill to win the series for the Indians in just the 2nd game of the series. Garcia struggled early on in the 1st as he gave up a five spot, capping it off with a grand slam by New White Sox Killer Juan Gonzalez. White Sox offense was held scoreless till they broke out for four runs in the 4th inning off Westbrook, Joe Crede had the big three run homer to make it a one run ballgame after four innings of play at 5-4. Garcia still in the game for the White Sox, allowed a big homerun to Jhonny Peralta in the 5th inning to extend the lead for the Indians at 6-4, Manager Ozzie Guillen decided to pull Garcia and put Vizcaino in relief. The Sox bullpen from there on shutdown the Indians offense, tossing 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball. A combination of Vizcaino, Cotts and Takatsu held the Indians offense in check. It came down to the Bottom of the 9th for the Sox, Bob Wickman in to close it out for the Indians. Aaron Rowand lead off the inning with a ground out to Broussard and Sox fans started looking for the exited but soon enough Crede singled up the middle just past the diving Belliard at 2nd base. After that Pierzynski also singled up the middle, it was runners on 2nd and 1st just one out. Guillen decided to go with Carl Everett as the pinch hitter for Willie Harris and he would deliver a base hit to right field but it was hit too hard for Crede to score from 2nd. Wickman looked around and had the bases juiced with just one out facing the top of the order for the White Sox. Scott Podsednik would line out to SS Jhonny Peralta for the 2nd out of the 9th, Uribe would deliver a big dramatic 2-run RBI Single up the middle to the tie up the game. The crowd would stand up and cheer for the hometown favorite Frank Thomas to deliver and that he did, hit the ball at end of the bat and the ball just blooped into left field and capping off a three run 9th inning for the dramatic White Sox Win, overcoming a five run deficit.
