Tally
Hi guys I'm starting this thread because I'm mad about AI today I was doing a game against the dodgers, with Pro difficulty I was going to win the match easily, 6-2, no problems Then I come on the 3rd inning, Tim Hudson at the pitch Strikeout, strikeout, and a one base hit, ok ... Then comes the 4th player I pitch a perfect slider at the bottom left of the strike zone, and the hitter still manages to get a hit, well why not ? So we have 2 players outs and 2 in Hudson's stamina is at 80% 5th player Once again two perfect 4 seam fastballs And then I try to pitch a slider at the edge on the zone I deliver, perfect pitch, and ............... Homerun ????? Valentin hit a 450 yards (dunno it it is yards or something else) ball :wall: 3 points for the dodgers  Mmmmh **** happens ... Next player, 4 seam fastball, perfect pitch and homerun again = 6-6 Later in the game another homerun after another perfect pitch ! I still managed to win 8-6, but it is boring ... And it is like this on every game I'm killing the AI during the first 5 innings, and they suddendly start to make homeruns and homeruns again, and each time they win the game, or lose it by only 1 or 2 runs Using 5 pitchers doesn't change anything Or if the ball isn't homerun it is deep and they've got 3 bases hits It is driving me nuts, it is unrealistic. On the gameplay tunning options everything is set to 0, I never messed files or so ... So is it possible to stop them ? :chin: any help will be greatly welcome ! Emil
When the second guy hits the HR on a perfect pitch, go out and talk to Hudson, change your rythme, throw a pitch outside and see if he chases. When you throw the same pitch at the same location time after time the hitter will pick up on it. Do you gotta do something. If I where you I'd change to All-Star, that's the most realistic difficulty. If you find it to difficult just change the sliders/tuning. I'd also downloaded a datafile, and change that sliders. It makes the game so much more realistic! But just keep on working, fellow europeen baseball fan!
cybernetic
do what I do.. never throw inside the strikezone on an 0-2, 1-2.. etc. count.. throw on off-speed pitch that breaks just out of the zone.. usually I throw a curve that drops out of the zone or a slider that breaks out

Viceman2004
or a high fastball. I've also had sucess with a high and inside changeup (in the striek zone).
cybernetic
I do throw high fastballs sometimes too if the curve/slider/split fails
sniperhf
I find that on Pro I get more swings in the zone on perfect pitches and they seem to know where the pitch is going to be more thus they make more contact.. When i throw a less than perfect pitch in or out of the zone I get tons of swing and misses and lots of strike outs. The only way I get a strike out with a perfect pitch on a consistent basis is a changeup up and in or up and away. My favorite sequence for a strike out is this. First pitch Fastball (or sinker or 2Seamer if thats your primary pitch) down and away on the corner Second pitch fastball (etc) down and In off the plate. Third pitch curve (or somthing similar) outside or inside. Changeup high in the zone and partially off the plate, the opposite side which you just pitched the curve ball. Off speed kills. Cheesypoofs
I notice the same thing. I play on All-Star and I still manage to keep the scores down low, except I almost always manage to lose because the other team hits a homerun or two to take the lead. I had one game vs the yankees where they hit 5 home runs in a row, and a total of 9 in the game....
dochase
Very simple...TOO MANY STRIKES. Like the others said, work the plate a bit, do not be afraid to throw 2 balls in a row. Be confident in your ability to come back and get a batter with YOUR pitch. D
