raver
Hi all, I'm new here and this is my first post. I bought a Logitech Dual Action gamepad some days ago, thinking it was the best gamepad for this game, but in these days I continue to read a lot of posts about the calibration problems of this pad. So, as I still can return it to the shop, I decided to replace it now to avoid future problems. I read very good reviews of both the Logitech Rumblepad 2 and the Seitek P880. As both are available in the shop where I will go, I would like to have some of your opinions about which one I should choose. I don't know if they have other Seitek (2500?). Thank you in advance. xiberger
Welcome, raver! I can recommend Saitek's P2500 Rumble Pad, as I've been using it for over a year now and never had any problems with it. The P880 is exactly the same model, except for the rumble technology, so I think that's worth the money as well.
cybernetic
The calibration problems are apparently with the Rumblepad I not the II
Sidewinder
For most sports games the 4 button diamond works better than the 6 button pads. I like the Rumblepad 2 better than my Saitek 2500 for sports games.
KerryW
There is no comparison between the Logitech and the Saitek. If you want a durable controller that will function flawlessly for years to come, the Saitek should be your choice. The only difference between the P880 and P2500 is the availability of a Rumble feature. I'd suggest forking over the extra $5 and getting the P2500 as I had. EagleBall5
There is no comparison between the Logitech and the Saitek. If you want a durable controller that will function flawlessly for years to come, then Logitech should be your choice. I had a Saitek P880 and after about 6 months, the rubber padding starting falling off the left analog stick. I switched to the wireless Logitech Rumplepad 2 about 8 months ago, and haven't looked back. As Sidewinder said, most computer games (especially EA Sports games) are designed with the 4 button PS2 style of controller in mind. The battery life on the wireless version is amazing as well. I haven't yet needed to replace them.
bigbully
Saitek - hands down. Do a search on here, Logitech controllers have had many problems. I think you're the first that said you had a Saitek w/problems. I own 2 and have never enjoyed a controller more - and I was pissed when I had to give up my Sidewinder! fuzzone
man, i own 2 logitech dual pad controllers now. but before that, i use to have a saitek p880 and man, after 2 years of play -- the rubber rubbed out, the color on the buttons faded off, and after throwing it around a couple of times -- it still worked. but man, ill tell u right now, u gotta get use to holding a controller likethe p880. like no double set triggers feels wierd. just 2 large triggers. overall, it's a dependable controller but it's real clunky and big. i'd go with the logitech just to keep the ps2 feel going. BigDaddyCool
I have both a Logitech Dual Action Pad and a Saitek P880, and the one I play with most often is the Saitek. For me it's because I started to notice that with a lot of use on the Logitech, the Left Analog stick became sluggish. It would no longer center itself and would send players or cursors off in one direction or another. Not a good thing to have happen when you're playing NHL 2004 and you are trying to get back onsides and your analog stick won't let you. The Logitech, like has been said before, is closer to a PS2 controller, while the Saitek is the closest I have found to an XBox conroller. Plus the analog stick can be used as two additional buttons, and in certain games you can flip the red switch on and have access to even more buttons. Sidewinder
Let me make it clear that the Logitech Rumblepad 2 and the Logitech dual action pad are entirely two different animals, when it comes to quality. It's well know the dual action pad had numerous issues, most notably staying in calibration. The Rumblepad 2 is rock solid, no issues whatsoever. The Saitek 2500 is a great pad, no doubt about it, so it really comes down to what button arrangement you prefer between those two.
Dan
I can't get the rumble to work on mine.
JoeRudi26
I've had the Logitech Dual Action Gamepad for almost two years, with no problems at all. The store that I purchased it no longer carries it, but they do carry the Saitek pads. With 3 computers in the house now, I'll be purchasing another pad soon. I guess I'll find out how good the Saitek really is.
ixcuincle
I'm thinking of buying a gamepad , preferably the saitek...the only issue is does it work well on first person shooters such as counter-strike source and half life 2?
Gordo
I have the Saitek 2500 and it's fine.....however, there's no way to map the pick-off command. If a pitcher has 5 pitch types then I'm screwed. Any fixes?
xiberger
I have the Saitek 2500 and it's fine.....however, there's no way to map the pick-off command. If a pitcher has 5 pitch types then I'm screwed. Any fixes? Works fine for me. Normal pickoff is button 5 plus corresponding base, and the fast move is button 7 plus base. btw, I got pitch #5 on button 8...
Gordo
Is the fast move cpu assigned, cause I don't see where to assign it manually when config'ing controller. Moving pitch #5 to button 8 (R trigger I presume) is a great idea. Now to get my base running assignments down!! sheesh.

Gordo
Thanks! I'll take a look at this. I guess this tells me that I can modify the controller directly in the file. Also, what's the diff. between cutoff throw and relay throw? Does the relay automatically make a "smart throw" or something?
xiberger
That's something I haven't figured out yet. Although in the config it says "cutoff throw" is button 6, nothing happens when pressing it during the game. However, when I make a long throw, let's say to home base, there's an option to cut the throw off (indicated by "cutoff" sign in left corner). But to make the cutoff I have to press button 7... No idea why that is, though.
