Hory
Well, I've been thinking about this for a while, modding MVP 2005 into a historical simulation of an old season, Ideally I would like to make a simulation of an old style season with no wildcard or even divisional play, unfortunately I haven't found a way to disable the wildcard in dynasty play So why not the supposed first year of wildcard play - the world series that never was - 1994 - The year of the expos or the yankees? So I've been thinking about what it would take to mod MVP 05 into MVP 1994? Teams - Nationals renamed Expos Anaheim renamed California Done pbp Audio for Expos not working at this stage Expos Logos from TC could be used (with permission of course) League Alignment - The DRays and DBacks are 'disabled' so they do not appear in any league just like the EA Legends teams The Brewers are in the AL Central, Tigers in the AL East Schedule - I am currently inputting the full planned 162 game 1994 schedule - 1 team done so far - 27 to go Rosters - (Portraits/Audio) I've been importing those players I can find in Total Classics and the 2005 rosters into a 1994 MLB Roster, many adjustments would have to be made for age - position career stats - salaries and team budgets We could put some of the 93-94 draft picks in A maybe I'm filling the rest of the spots at this stage with "blank players". And of course permission will needed to use the TC players & portraits-audio in the 94 roster. All Star Game - The Lineups for the 94 game wil be easy to add to the game but does anyone know how to move the game from Detroit to Pittsburgh? Ballparks The Vet, Astrodome, Olympic, Cinergy, Jack Murphy/Qualcomm already exist in the game in varying degrees of accuracy Three Rivers and others would still need to be created although that is well out of my skill range. I don't know if it is possible to change the default park for a team i.e the vet for the phillies - of course it can be changed in the game startup Uniforms Obviously a lot of uniforms are already in the game and the much better ones made for Total classics could be used with permission. Playoffs I've simmed seasons using the 05 schedule and had no problems or crashes with playoffs and the offseason, I expect the same when i have finished the 94 sched. Anyway this is what I've come up with so far Just putting it out there to see if any other modders are interested in this idea.
Sean O
It's funny, because a few months back, MarkB, paulw and I were considering a 1955-56 season mod for MVP. I love TC, but I still think it would be best to do one whole season. I would love to get a wide-range of support for this, since it should be do-able. Sean O
I should mention that Three Rivers, Fulton County, Busch and Riverfront should pretty much be a breeze, however the difficulty arises with the west coast parks. Reverting Oakland Alameda to the 1994 level would be difficult, but possible, however making the Big A and Candlestick would be considerably harder. Jack Murphy Stadium would need the 1998 revisions lopped off, and we'd need to create the Kingdome, though we dodged a bullet with regards to the 1992 Astrodome revision. Fenway would need the green monster seats removed, no big deal, though US Cellular would require a bit of work. The other huge issue, of course, is Mile High, which would be horrible to have to create, as the modifications required to either Dolphin Stadium or Jack Murphy / Vet would be considerable. The main issue, of course, is the Devil Rays / Arizona problem. If we can make it so that these two teams are staffed with only single-a players and only play each other 162 times a year, then we're set, otherwise we're in trouble. Honestly, I think it would be more interesting to do something a little further back in time. We have everything but Comiskey done for a < 1955 version, and we'd just need KC Municipal and 2 of the 3 interim stadiums (Sick's and LA Wrigley Field, since LA Coliseum is completed) for a 1955-1961 mod. 1968 would be interesting, because it was the year of the pitcher, and right before the influx of most of the horrid cookie cutters. So, I guess if it comes down to it, i'd go for 1955 or 1968, since those are the most interesting for me.

Hory
Woah, unis already! awesome! There's no problem with the D-Rays/DBacks (Fingers crossed), they have no games in the 94 schedule and do not appear in any division so you'll never have to play them - the adjustments i've made mean the game treats them as a 'non-franchise' team - like the mvp heroes team - however the teams minor league affiliates still play in their normal divisions as I didn't want to break anything in the minors in fact Players in those minor teams can still get called up to the big league club only they have no games to play there I'll staff both clubs with low attribute non-players anyway though. I was thinking in relation to doing an older pre-60s season with no wildcard/divisions - The Texas League east(NL) west (AL) in AA could somehow be used to emulate the no divison/wildcard 144-game era - however it is a split season though
stecropper
I also feel that past seasons would be a wonderful direction for MVPMods. I would certainly contribute to these efforts in anyway I can. I for one think "61" is a must season (and have most of those team rosters already done - and would be willing to complete what is missing) but certainly agree to the merits of 55, 56, 68 and 94. I would be willing to make complete league team rosters for any 1960-1969 season anyone cares to undertake. I can't speak for the entire Total Classics crew but I think this is precisely why we created Total Classics - to generate interest so others would expand on Old Time Classic baseball for the enhanced enjoyment of all. Great Idea! Don New Orleans
JoeRudi26
I am definately interested. I've always wanted to replay the 61 season as well, just to see how Mantle would have prevailed had he not gotten injured. But, any "past" season will work for me. This idea sounds great. UncleMo
I'd actually appreciate a 90's mod version rather than the TC, only because I have a hard time identifying with older eras. If you can make it where we can play a full season, I'd love to do that. Was 1994 just a hypothetical year or the year you actually will use? It is a unique year to choose in the 90s because it was the season of what might have been. If you pick any other year in the 90s, you probably won't have a good of a reason as 94. Go for it. I'm ready to DL now!
Don
Blue Jays were actually a pretty good team then with 2 straight world series championships in '92 and '93 before 1994.

Hory
Ok, after several hours I have finished inputting all 2269 scheduled games of the 94 season into the schedule. I've run several sims and had no problems so far using the dback/dray-free schedule - which along with the edited .loc files is attached to this post for anyone interested. In the rosters There are many players in the minors from 05 they have to be deleted along with generic 'blank' placeholder players filling up spots on the major league team until those teams get done. So to anyone who wants to help make any of these 1994 teams or players - your mvpedit contribution is welcome Then after that we can get to sorting out the pretty things like uniforms and stadiums.
