AstroEric
Was taking a look at the Fat cyberface thread, and I think you should keep celebrity teams separate from fictional baseball teams. I have long contemplated making a .met file of an all-star fictional team, and I would still like to try sometime. My idea of a team, with no kids allowed (Sorry, Benny the Jet), and only movies included (otherwise, I'd have to include Casey and the classic April Fool's Joke Sidd Finch): 1B - Jack Elliot ( Tom Selleck - Mr. Baseball) 2B - Dennis Ryan (Frank Sinatra - Take Me Out to the Ballgame) 3B - Roger Dorn (Corbin Bernsen - Major League) SS - Joe Hardy (Tab Hunter - Damn Yankees) LF - Isuro "So Taguchi" Tanaka (Takaaki Ishibashi - Major League) CF - Willie Mays Hayes (Wesley Snipes - Major League) RF - Roy Hobbs (Robert Redford - The Natural) C - Crash Davis (Kevin Costner - Bull Durham) DH - Pedro Cerrano (Dennis Haysbert - Major League) P - Ebby Calvin 'Nuke' LaLoosh (Tim Robbins - Bull Durham) P - Billy Chapel (Kevin Costner - For the Love of the Game) P - Steve Nebraska (Brendan Fraser - The Scout) P - Sam "I'm Pretty Sure He Had a Nickname" Malone (Ted Danson - Cheers) P - Henry "Author" Wiggen (Michael Moriarty - Bang the Drum Slowly) LRP - Bingo Long (Billy Dee Williams - The Bingo Long Traveling All Stars and Something or Another) LRP - Montgomery Brewster (Richard Pryor - Brewster's Millions) MRP - Chet Steadman (Gary Busey - Rookie of the Year) MRP - Mel Clark (Tony Danza - Angels in the Outfield) CP - Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn (Charlie Sheen - Major League) C - Jake Taylor (Tom Berenger - Mr. Baseball) C - Bruce Pearson (Robert DeNiro - Bang the Drum Slowly) Util - The Whammer (Joe Don Baker - The Natural) 1B - Stan Ross (Bernie Mac - Mr. 3000) OF - Barry Bo...Bobby Rayburn (Wesley Snipes - The Fan) Honorable Mention: Leon, from the Budweiser commercials --Eric
MadHatter
I've thought about that fictional baseball team idea as well. But mostly just to add players like Sam Malone to my dynasty. By the way, I think his nickname was "Way Back" Malone. Anyone ever CAP any of these guys? As far as random celebrities like Seinfeld, etc. That idea doesn't really appeal to me. jogar84
this is sounds pretty cool. I'll give some these guys a shot. pretty bored with real players right now.
MadHatter
AstroEric: The only guys I would add to your list are: Jimmy Dugan (A League of Their Own) Juan Primo (The Fan) Jack Parkman (Major League) Cecil Cantrell (Long Gone) Billy Young (Tiger Town)

AstroEric
I don't want to hijack Boone's thread. I want to give him a chance to respond here first to see if this was within the scope of his original project. Otherwise, I'll start a new thread, and a new project. Hatter -- Don't forget we're limited to a 25-man roster! Otherwise, ALL of Bingo Long's Traveling All-Stars would be on there. I figure it would be easier to find higher-res pictures of these guys to do faces with...I can get a number of profile pics from DVDs. The only one I might have trouble with is Frank Sinatra in Take Me Out to the Ball Game, which I haven't seen since I was a little kid (along with On the Town, which I thought was much better). Surprisingly, there aren't many middle infielders represented in baseball movies. This is all I've got: --Eric
MadHatter
Gotcha Astro... there are also those Sandlot kids to consider. Would we be able to add players individually, or we we have to upload them all at once?
AstroEric
I figure we should compile them as a whole. My plan, since they don't have actual stats, was to use players whom I feel they were modelled after, or were similar to. For example, if I used Jimmy Dugan, I'd give him Jimmy Foxx's stats, or Mickey Mantle for Joe Hardy, or Kenny Lofton for Willie Mays Hayes, or Barry Bonds for Bobby Rayburn, etc. etc. --Eric
MadHatter
Agreed - I'm guessing we should start a new thread for this... And look, someone's done some work for us already... http://baseball-fever.com/archive/index.php/t-19212.html

Yankee4Life
This is a bit of an old thread. I think they gave up on this one. Unless someone else takes over... You are not kidding man. From December 5th, 2005 to May 22nd, 2007. That was the difference in time from one post to the next in this thread. Thug4Life took over this project from boone292929 because boone292929 got busy with real life stuff and then Thug4life stopped coming around here for some reason. That's why nothing happened with this project. It would have been nice though to have celebrity names for a change of pace though. Oh well.
