Nimrod
Hello, im new here and have a question about using a closer in MVP Baseball 2005. When I switch from the top of the 9th to the bottom of the ninth or from the bottom of the eight to the top of the ninth, I want to use my closer then. But if I wait until my team takes the field, and then subsitute my closer, will my closer still get the save ? because another pitcher took the mount when my team took the field. So if it doesnt get the save then, when is it the best time to put my closer in ? Because when the innings change, I dont get a menu screen inbetween where I can change relieve pitchers/closers. MarkB
Yeah, he'll still get the save when you bring him in in the top or bottom of the 9th, as long as the previous pitcher hasn't recorded an out. There are other variations (closer coming in with bases loaded and 1 out, for example), but they can be covered by the MLB ruling.
raindelay7
for the record it is possible to change your pitcher when your team is at bat: click on warm-up pitchers; then click on "back" and then "pitcher substitution". Unfortunately you can not do this with two pitchers warming up, but it is easy enough to just sit down one of the pitchers and then make the switch. YVR_Mike
It all depends on the score whether he gets the save or not. According to the MLB rules, if it is a blow out game, the closer has to pitch for 3 innings to get the save. If you have no more than a 3 run lead, he just has to pitch for 1 inning, or if he enters the game with the potential tying run either on base, at bat or on deck. rolliefingers08
also, the entire 8th inning with a 4-run lead.
