I have a dynasty with Tampa Bay. We are tied for 1st with New York right now at 21-13. I am finding out that I am more or less living of of the home run. I have the lowest runs scored, BA etc. Pretty much stats wise the worst hitting club in the AL. Any tips on how I can stop this trend..... And improve my hitting.

play direct ip. that'll improve ur hitting, im serious. also, if u ever get a double, try to bunt the guy over. even a single and bunt. dont be ashamed to bunt. its hard to lay down a bunt for a single than hit a homerun.

now where was i...

I don't always hit for power, but I have a problem with taking balls, so I get alot of outs and strikeouts. I can't ever remember in that instant what the hitter's eye color means, and by the time I get everything figured out, it's the sixth inning and they take that pitcher out.

But if I were you, Cubbie, I'd start driving them the other way. I've picked up a majority of my doubles and triples that way.

I seem to have a problem lately with an "itchy trigger finger," meaning I see the pitch coming in, see where it's going, know I shouldn't swing, but still swing.

Sometimes I do good, and am able to wait for my pitch, but there are alot of times I'm telling myself "DON'T SWING!!!" as I hit the button.

I like to see at least 4 pitches in an at bat, everytime. I ususally take the first pictch, unless the miss indicator comes up. If pitch one is a ball, I always take. And so on....In the first part of the game, just try to get the other pitcher's stamina down. For some strange reason, using this method, my pitchers draw more walks when I play, than any other player.

Yeah, I usually take the first pitch. It's just some pitches, as they are coming up, I know I shouldn't swing, but my thumb reacts before my brain...lol.

Eww. Same here, Doyle. I think I'm schizophrenic.

Hcarey -- u sound like u'd be a real good direct ip opponent.

contact me if interested.

Fuzz, I'd love to... but here's the thing, i'm in college, and my dorm has wireless access, and it's slow. I played like 3 innings once through direct I.P. here, and it stuttered so much I just couldn't handle it. It ain't me, it's the connection. I'll be back home over Christmas break and can play on my parents' connection, but until then, sorry man.

Well, I targeted my problem and fixed it. I finally noticed that if I was behind in the count, that was when I got antsy and had the hair trigger swing finger. So, at the expence of an exhibition game, I made myself take a MINIMUM of 2 pitches per at bat. I didn't get as many hits at first, but as the game went on, I got better. I think I am now free of the trigger finger, as the next 2 dynasty games I played were the first ones I have ever had with the opposing pitcher getting up to 90+ pitches by the 7th inning (Roger Clemens actually threw 106 agaisnt me). Plus, I won both games with smallball, so I am "hitting" better as well. Most of my wins previous were long-ball related.

I think what got me into the habit was when I started using Pared's sliders two or so months ago, it changed the game, and I needed to change with it.
