NimCross
Hello Everyone, I have been playing MVP for two years now. I play every game of the season. Did 3 seasons in 2004 and 3 in 2005 now. I've played mostly in All-Star mode tuning the sliders myself and using some of those settings posted here. My real problem is that I am frustrated over being able to hit to many home runs and score high numbers without the AI teams being able to do the same against me. I have started over now 4 times in the last month switching between MVP mode and some difficult settings I found here. As I've read here I've found on my own, MVP mode does not give you realistic games. I see talk of data files on this board but do not really understand what they are. I do understand they can drastically effect game play. MY REQUST: I would love to play the game on any level that will give me a realistic and difficult season. Could someone please point me in this direction? i.e Nim go here and get this and use these settings? I really love playing this game but am really frustrated because I have been doing nothing but tuning for 9 months and 3 seasons and still do not feel I have something that is realistic. I would greatly appreciate any help with this. Thank you, Nim

JoeRudi26
The datafile and the sliders are the key. The best thing I can tell you is this: Mess around with the sliders until you get realistic results. It took me 3 weeks of constantly tweaking the game until I had what I wanted. I play every game as well, and this season I went 85-77, finishing first in the American League West with Oakland, 4 games ahead of Seattle. And if it wasn't for a late season 8 game winning streak, I probably wouldn't have made the playoffs. Somehow I made it past Boston and New York in the playoffs, only to go down in 6 games to the Cardinals in the World Series. I averaged about 4.5 runs a game, 8-10 hits a game, and was lucky to hit a homerun every two games. With this being said, it was a challenge everytime I "stepped on the field". As far as the datafile and sliders go, I would suggest this: First, search the site for "datafile". There are plenty of threads relating to this, and most or all of your questions will be answered. But you have to remember, just because one person gets realistics results with certain sliders, doesn't necessarily mean YOU will. Your skill level and the way you play the game may be different from others. This is why I strongly suggest tweaking to your liking. Anyway, good luck and I hope this leads you in the right direction.

NimCross
Joe, Thank you very much for your reply. May I ask which data file you use? I have been looking at them but am not sure what I need to do to install the KSM (I think thats the name of it without looking) data file? Do I need another program to convert it or just copy it into the correct folder? May I ask also what your slider settings are? Do you play on All-star? You sound like you have a great starting point for me to adjust to my particular play. Again, Thank you for helping out.
NimCross
Tidalwav, Do you have different ranges of score for the default MVP? I've found it very hard to get some high scoring games, on my end, on default MVP. The AI can do it but I really can't. Thanks for your help.
