And I've decided to have another crack at importing some teams from the Lahman database. What I'm playing with now is a mid-50's tri-borough tournament between the Dodgers, Giants and Yanks, but to my surprise, the uniforms aren't available.

Sandman's excellent 1961 Yankees unis are a good start, but they have a helmet instead of a soft cap when the team is at bat, which would be more appropriate for the 50's. His '63 Dodgers are also a good bet, but, again, they have a helmet, and they show the wrong city (LA instead of Brooklyn) on the road jersey. The 40's Dodgers uniforms in the game use the pre-war cap (with the small bill), and have full-length high socks, instead of the cut stirrups that became popular after about 1950. (In Jim Bouton's book, "Ball Four", he talks about the players cutting their own stirrups to leave the fashionable amount of surgical sock showing).

The mid-50's Giants uniforms that are in the game are great, except they use modern shoes (with the logo on them), instead of the plain black shoes.

You may be able to tell that I'm still using MVP 2004 - I honestly have no idea which historic uniforms are in 2005, but I'm guessing that if these uniforms are in 2005, someone would've done a high-res or other mod to them and it'd be available for download.

Unfortunately, I think Sandman retired after MVP 2004, so I don't know if he's still modding, or if anyone would be able to get permission to mod his mods.
