scorpiuss
I used to play with a Geforce 4 64MB graphics card with the eye candy turned down without a problem. Recently, I upgraded to an x800 card w/256MB and an A64 system, and had been dreaming about playing MVP baseball with everything turned up. Well, everything runs fine, except that the ball seems to move back and forth in flight . The game still moves at the proper pace (that is, the ball gets to first or whatever in the proper amount of time), but the ball movement is terribly choppy and annoying. I tried locking my monitor's refresh rate at 60Hz and playing with the AA/AF settings, all to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated! You mentioned that you played with the AA and AF settings, so I'm not sure this will help you anymore but, I'd recommend jacking all quality settings up to their max. Use the highest AA and AF you can, set all quality setting on your video card to maximum quality, set the game to all max details, and the highest resolution available. As a last resort use 60Hz monitor refresh with Vsync ON. I'd even recommend installing all the stadiums and high res uniforms (KCCity's or Moser's) to hammer the video card even further. For some reason this game seems to be jerky with high end cards, something about the game running too fast...your only hope is to hammer the video card in an attempt to slow it down a bit... scorpiuss
Thanks for the help, but no setting, either within the game or in the Catalyst Control Center, seems to help. Has no one else ever seen this problem? Perhaps related - the colored circles around the numbers on the past pitch screen (press left analog stick at batting/pitching screen), flicker. I never saw this before. Thanks for any help.
big shmooz
I know this may be a stupid question to ask, but did you perhaps forget to install the patch? One more thing... in the AA/AF settings, did you turn them up or down? The key is to turn them up. Try turning them up to the max they can go. (usually 8x & 16x respectively)
scorpiuss
I know this may be a stupid question to ask, but did you perhaps forget to install the patch? Not stupid! I hadn't installed the patches on this install, since there were reports of the latest one not working with MVPedit. Didn't realize that that would effect gameplay! Thanks for the tip - everything is smooth as silk now, and I couldn't be happier! :D
big shmooz
Glad to help. My advice is not to install the latest patch, but rather to install patch 3. That will eliminate your issues with MVPEdit. Patch 4 doesn't add anything anyway except for newer rosters. (I don't advise that you use EA's rosters anyway.)
