1942 Sportsman's Park St. Louis

I've just about finished up on an update on Crowe1's very flashy Sportman's Park. Talked to Vince and he gave me the green light on this. THE major change is the addition of the screen in front of the right field Pavilion - to many the signature feature of this fine old Park. With the screen going up to the level of the roof, the wall height is about 35 feet and extends about 2/3 of the way out to center. I did a lot of work on the background - which is pretty prominent in this model. Anyhow, if I can keep my hands off it I'll be releasing this in a day or two. Here's a quick pic:

I'm getting to really like this park. Vince's initial work probably had some of the finest graphics I've ever seen - particulary the scoreboard and signs in left field. I've updated the right field signs to make this slightly more Cardinal friendly.

Hey Paul-

Great work as always. Quick question, can you remove the crowds in dead-center? I never play in the TC3 version of Sportsman's Park because, like Tiger Stadium and Griffith, I have a hard time picking up the ball when it goes over the crowd. Obviously I can change it myself, but other people don't have the same experience.

Unfortunately, the center field area didn't change until 1955 when the seats were removed in favor of shrubbery, much like current-day Wrigley Field. But I think we can futz with authenticity a bit, can't we?

Hi Paul, it's looking real good so far. I always enjoy playing in your stadiums because the atmosphere of the times can be felt while playing in them. I'm enjoying the Classic Yankee Stadium especially at the moment

Great minds think alike, Sean  . I was thinking of doing this last night. I think I'm also going to thin the crowd out a bit in general. I'll see how it looks.

Thanks for some of the very nice comments. However, don't forget Crowe1 - I built off his original. That left field scoreboard and left field signs are his. This guy did the best graphical work I've ever seen. I still consider this *his* ballpark. He - very kindly - gave me the permission to add on to it.

Screenshots look excellent, but I'm wondering: should the mound have the ring around it seen here: http://i13.ebayimg.com/02/i/00/ee/68/0e_1.JPG

The photo is either pre- or post-war, I'm not sure which (think it may be from the 1946 Series, but not entirely sure) and I haven't seen any photos specifically from 1942.

Great work, paul and crowe. Love the screen. Little easier to pitch to lefties and turns those low opposite field liners from right handers into long singles or doubles instead of HR's.

Can't wait to see what you come up with for the Forbes screen and I second Sean's request for a Tiger Stadium version that has a screen requiring HR's to be hit into the second deck in right field. (according to ballparks.com the screen was used in 1944 and 1961) I haven't found any pictures though and I don't remember it being shown in the movie 61*.
