yunkah
Hi, I just moved some players to/from AAA and MLB and now when I play a game the pitcher has taken the place of the 9th batter - and obviously he plays like crap. I've tried editing the batting order and rotation in the Team Confirguration/Rosters menu, but nothing affects my actual team when it comes to playing a game. Also there's no way I can swap him with a substitute before a game. Kinda sucks. Thanks for helping.
Jim825
This may seem like a silly question, but do you have the game setup so that a Designated Hitter is used? If you don't or if you have it setup to be used for the AL only, and you are playing in an NL park, the pitcher will bat 9th.
yunkah
I'm sorry I don't even know how to do that, the manual being very scarce on deep settings. I've played about 50 games in Dynasty mode and suddenly, after I swapped two players (substitute SS) between MLB and AAA the 9th batter became the current pitcher. What does AL and NL mean ? (I'm not American and only follow some games on satellite TV.)
steelstone
The National League and American League started out as totally different systems I think. Sorta like Coke and Pepsi but then they combined to form the Major League Baseball. Each league is divided into divisions of 4-6 teams. Those teams play a lot of their games against the other teams in their division. (Divisions are usually based on location) The top 4 teams in each league play in a playoff to see who will play the winner of the other league in the World Series. The AL chose to have a Designated hitter for some reason, I don't know why and the NL did not. The DH takes the spot of the pitcher in the batting order and does not play in the field. Actually a DH can hit for any player on a team in the AL I think but they don't do that often.

cb
Basicly, if you play in a National League Park, the pitcher will bat instead of a DH. In the American League, it is switched, the DH batts in place for the Pitcher.
yunkah
Well, I'm playing the Red Sox and I've chosen "AL only" in the preferences menu. Still, I have this dumb pitcher coming to bat at the last place.

big shmooz
To further clarify Keith, when an AL team plays an NL team in the NL teams home ballpark, the pitcher has to bat.
