mrwhiteyford
i thought it odd, so i used the patch and updated 1 by one... patch 1... then tried to save ... patch 2... etc. everything is fine, until patch 5 and then the big crash to desktop when i go to save. any ideas? theres no way to contact ea on this issue except to call them and im not using a copy either, the original disk is in the drive or it wouldnt update in the first place i dont think

Hory
From the OS forums - I'm guessing Pawtucket (Red Sox AAA), Albuquerque (Marlins AAA), Binghamton (Mets AA), and Erie (Tigers AA) are the problem teams. Make sure you assign an extra position player to these teams before going into Owner Mode

LudeBoy
I had the same problem, which sucks. All I did was use my back up files that had saved.
Mystair13
Have you guys been able to fix this crashing problem. I decided not to install patch 5 and was able to save but when I try to play the first game of the season the game crashes again. I have been talking to EA by e-mail for a week and everything they have had me try did not work. I would really like to play this game.
Bowditch
I did the delete/reinstall thing and updated only to patch three. It works, but I'm just anal enough to want to install the updated rosters. Has anyone gotten the new patches to work?
mistamayor
Honestly... this is driving me nuts. I have the same problem and am desperate to get this fixed. What has EA said? Any luck at all ? PLEASE PLEASE. I cannot find ANYTHING on the net about this. Help help!! Everyone... Anyone!!
justynius
I came across the same difficulties as you did. The problem is with the manager file. If you attempt to do a draft (including coaches draft), you'll notice the first manager slot is completely blank and causes all kinds of problems to go down. The solution is this: 1) reinstall the game 2) copy the manager file from ...EA SportsMVP Baseball 2005datadatabase 3) install the new patch 4) paste the old manager file over the new one (in the same directory) I've done this and have had no problems whatsoever. WAIT! Instead of reinstalling simply search your CD1 for database and copy/paste/overwrite that one to the one in your EA SportsMVP 2005DataDatabase file. Tony3
Manager.dat is the reason for Patch 5 owner mode save crash. Column "19 manager_reallife" should be 1 instead of 0 for real managers.
FalconLT
OK then which managers in the manager.dat file from Patch 5 should be 1? These are the ones with a 0: Default Sam Perlozzo Joe Girardi Jerry Narron Buddy Bell Joe Maddon Jim Leyland Grady Little A Manager
Tony3
I mean "real life managers", all of them but Default & A Manager should be 1.
