bpstein
First of all, thanks to everyone for their help on my previous thread--I have learned a lot thanks to your answers. As I mentioned previously, my friends and I have constructed a fantasy league based on UR 4.22. Our fantasy draft was based on 2005 stats, and we are not sure if they are performing according to this season's stats. UR does seem to have updated the player ratings--but I wanted to ask if the version we use reasonably reflects the player's 2005 stats, or if we should consider biting the bullet and playing with the official patch #5, which seems to have updated player ratings as of the post-season. Our top priority is to play accurate CPU vs CPU games with players who perform close to their 2005 stats. Thanks for any info and advice. JP_Frost
well, I think that's the hardest part - getting the players in the game to reflect their real life counterparts ( statistically ). Even EA messes up, and I'm not sure if patch 5 will fix that. My best advice is to do your own edits. It will take a while, but esspecially when you have a couple of friends around, you all can discuss the player ratings and edit the players accordingly. Sim a few seasons, see who's overperforming and who's underperforming and edit them again. Everybody uses different stats, so you'll have to find your own preference. bpstein
Thank you so much for the advice. I am correct in assuming that UR updated the ratings to reflect player performance during 2005, right? Could you point me to a thread that explains the relationships between stats and player ratings, so we can be informed as possible in editing the players? I want to involve the members of my fantasy league as much as possible in evaluating and tweaking the ratings, so that everyone is happy, and the more hard info that I can find in explaining how the player ratings work, the better. This is a wonderful forum--my friends and I have really been enjoying the MVP fantasy league that we have been able to create thanks to the resources here. Totte
I am correct in assuming that UR updated the ratings to reflect player performance during 2005, right? Ben Partly yes. Not every team has been updated to the fullest but I'm getting there. Some minor tweaks here and there tend to keep the others teams that haven't been updated honest in the meantime. Merry Christmas! bpstein
Totte, Thanks so much for the information--it's very helpful. We have used UR to move our favorite 125 players into 5 teams, so this gives us the incentive to learn more about how the player ratings work so that we can study and fine tune them for our own particular situation. The UR rosters have brought us so much enjoyment--we play MVP during lunchtime at work. It's brought us a lot of laughs and fun. Merry Christmas to you as well! Merry Christmas to you as well! Ben That's cool! Do you have a website or something where you guys update your fantasy league so that other people can track your performances? bpstein
I really appreciate the encouragement! I'll talk to the other guys and maybe we'll put up our standings and screenshots and particular settings and lessons learned starting the first week of January, when we're all back at work. I'll post a URL by then if we do that. Ben
