The audio package I downloaded from this site has been reported as a remote process launcher..

piece of spyware bundled into software installers.

anyone esle had this problem??

Im considering quarantining this application.

btw - im not questioning the integrity of the program creator or anything.

I just want to see if anyone else has seen this reported with their anti virus software.

where did you get that trojan?.....

that was just a java based trojan.

easy to remove.

nothing heavy...

however this PUP has put a trojan in my system restore and its hard to shift.

audiov2.jpg

keeps restoring itself..

came bundled in that audio software.

Disable system restore, delete all restore points, run an anti-virus scan and delete anything that's found, then re-enable system restore.

That should clean it up.

And, to answer the question, I've not had any problems with TotalAudio being reported as anything nasty at all. :)

The new mcafee reports lots of things as "pup" or potentially unwanted programs. There shouldn't be anything wrong with the audio patch. Mcafee reported links from gamespy arcade in my start menu as pup's.

I think it reports all compiled batch files as PUPs

and MS aniti-spyware pause all batch files (making them not work untill the 2nd time you run them)

It is a no win situation

its nothing to worry about, all it is is just cuz its running a Command Prompt, which is the behavior of some spyware apps hence why it shows concern

Anyone who knows what they are doing with PC's should know that MS-DOS batch files are generally safe. The last time they were widely used in malware was back in the Windows 95/98 days. These days, the same can be done more discreetly and quicker by using compiled executables.

Also, cloutier, they aren't blocked because "some spyware apps" use them, they are blocked for 2 reasons; 1. Because Microsoft thinks everyone needs to have a shell to be safe inside, and 2. because of the wide range of powerful commands that are available in the MS-DOS environment, such as deleting all files and folders on a drive without asking for user confirmation.
