Texas Rangers PostSeason report!

Rangers Squeak Through to World Series

After winning 106 games this season, The Rangers were the obvious favorite to win the World Series. And once again, the Rangers would have to face a familiar foe in the Minnesota Twins in the Divisional Round of the playoffs.

This 5-game series went back and forth but saw the Rangers come out on top and winning the series three games to two.

In the A.L.C.S., the Rangers again faced a familiar postseason opponent in the Chicago Whitesox. Texas struggled early losing the first two games of the series. But from that point on, they ran off four straight wins to make their second straight trip to the World Series... and yep you guessed it, against the New York Mets - the team the Rangers beat last season to win the World Series.

With the American League winning the All-Star game, the Rangers would host 4 of the 7 games.

The Rangers won the first game quite easily, 10 - 3, but the second game saw the tables turned and the Rangers never really recovered. The Rangers lost the second game 12 - 4 before they ventured out to face the Mets in New York for games 3 through 5. With the Series tied 1 - 1, the Mets won the next two games the put the Rangers on the brink of emilination. Game 5 saw the Rangers nip the Mets 4 - 3 (for Juan Rincon's ONLY post season appearance and save) to stay alive in the series. Game 6, back in Arlington, was not as exciting as one would hope. The Rangers bats fizzled as they lost game 6, and the series, 9 - 2.

It was a sad ending to a promising season. We can't blame injuries either as the Rangers were completely healthy in the postseason. Inconstencies with pitching and hitting are what we can point at.

Rangers' PostSeason standouts:

(CF) J. Pierre - .432, 3 HR, 9 RBI, 4 SB, 20 R

(2B) L. Gonzalez - .392, 5 HR, 22 RBI, 3 SB, 15 R

(RF) B. Wilkerson - .318, 4 HR, 7 RBI, 5 SB, 10 R

(SP) D. Williams - 2.91, 2-1, 18 Ks, 4 BBs

(LF) A. Dunn - .276, 1 HR, 6 RBI *very disappointing, lol*

We ended the season with...

-$81.10 mil in Player Salaries

-$26.43mil in the BANK

Very good, very good indeed. I haven't seen, and no offense to the other dynasty guys out there, but I haven't seen anything so original since Lual started with his dual-picture format.

Great stuff, keep up the good work.

Yay!!! Finally got a chance to sit down and sim the first 80+ games of 2008.... here's the report

Texas' Strong first half start! Boast 9 All-Stars!

This Rangers dynasty continues to roll as they assume the roll the vaunted Yankees assumed in the 1990's: All-Star filled team with no apparent weaknesses.

Once again, on the big bats, now assisted with very good starting pitching, the Rangers have once again reached the All-Star break with a league best 57 wins (30 losses) and show no signs of slowing down.

Rangers' All-Stars: *=denotes starter

SP - Bonderman, SP-Dominguez, RP-Cabrera, LF - Dunn*, 1B - Teixeira*, 3B - Blalock*, C - Molina, SS - Colon, CF - Pierre

Fact and Figures: *thru July 7th*

-Bank= $3.635 million in DEBT

-Player Payroll= $87.1 million

-28,272 average attendance

Current Rangers lineup and rotation

1B - Teixiera

2B - Gonzalez

3B - Blalock

LF - Dunn

CF - Pierre

RF - Kearns

C - Molina

DH - Branyon

SP-1 Bonderman

SP-2 Sparks

SP-3 Dominguez

(CL) F. Cabrera - 2.43, 0-1, 19 SV, 21 K

Lucky starts slow - comes around later

As much as we love the idea of Lucky becoming our short stop of the future, we do NOT love the idea of letting go of the diamond from the rough that is Matt Colon (currently our MLB All-star starting SS). Colon has been a very good player for us and continues to only improve. What does this mean for the 20-year-old stud, Lucky Martin, who is playing hard down at triple-A Oklahoma but is not exactly tearing things up? Other than being called up periodically to fill in for a day or two here and there, Lucky is yet to see any REAL time at the Major League level. Will that change any time soon?

"I can't control that really. They will use who they believe is the best guy for the job, and right now, I'm not doing everything right to show that."

Only time will tell.

==Lucky's stats through July 7th==

.273, 10 HR, 31 RBI, 13 SB, 56 R

Texas sets more records; Lucky starts 1st game as a Ranger!

The Rangers began the season just hoping to keep their winning ways alive. What they discovered was they were on a collision course with an MLB record:

total team wins in a season. The Seattle Mariners of 2001 and the Chicago Cubs of 1906 share the record for most wins in a season at 116 games and the Rangers came ever so close to matching this mark this season.

In other news: Lucky gets a "look-see" at the Majors-

Lucky was called up from triple-A Oklahoma to allow players like Gonzalez and Colon a rest. He struggled early and was batting .165 in 2 games played. We followed him as he came home to Arlington and started his 1st home game ever as a Ranger.

luckys1sthomegameasRanger.jpg

His first at bat was forgettable as he grounded into a double play. He then followed that up with a subpar defensive play where he made an errand throw to first on a ground ball pulling 1st baseman Teixeira off the bag, though no error was given.

A couple of innings later, Lucky's fate began to get turned around. With Juan Pierre on 3rd after having blazed his way to a triple, Lucky bounced a ball deep into the hole on the right side of the infield. Though he was thrown out at first, he picked up an RBI as Pierre scored without contest.

Two innings later, with the Rangers having created some distance between them on the scroeboard, and again with Pierre on 3rd, Lucky came up this time and hit a single to center field. With the Rangers getting 4 more runs that inning, Lucky came up to bat again the next inning. He came back down to Earth by striking out.

Though Lucky went on to pop out in his final at bat of this game, he was able to put together a few nice defensive plays and show the Major Leagues of things to come.

Lucky's Stats for the game:

4 ABs, 1 H, 2 RBI, 1 R, 1 K, 1 SB Rangers win 9 - 2 over the Angels

i love this dynasty bro, great work! I've been following this dynasty since day one. But i have a question. You should trade SS Colon for a Pitcher and sign a SS in FA for AAA and bring up Lucky Martin, tell me what you think?

I would like to, but I feel like my rotation and relief situation is as good as it gets without becoming too extremely overloaded with talent. Plus, I don't really have any position of real need either... It's almost as if I have a logjam of talent - 25 roster spots for 35 really good players.... It's a great situation to be in I guess, unless your Lucky Martin, lol.

Im thinking on it though - on how I can get him up there and have it make sense....
