jogar84
Ok, guys heres my dilemma, this was probably discussed a ways back, but i did a search and found no solution. I had to reinstall Windows XP and start from scratch. I reinstalled my MVP 05 and now have the problem of "shimmering grass" I got rid of the problem before simply by setting my graphics acceleration to max in the settings. (Im using ATI RADEON 9200) However, this time, the shimmering grass still occurs. To make things worse, there is no tab in my advanced settings for tinkering with AF and AS. If anyone can point me out to solution, it would be a great help.

jogar84
thanks man, i'll give it a try. Really dont care about the grass quality as long as the distracting shimmering is gone.
spitoon
It sounds like you might need to update your video card drivers. If you simply let windows do it for you when you re-installed, it may have installed a generic driver, explaining the loss of the AA and AF controls. I don't know much about Radeon cards, but you should be able to find a driver on the ATI website and install that...it should re-enable your AA and AF controls which will allow you to get rid of the shimmering grass. JoltinJoeCarter
thanks man, i'll give it a try. Really dont care about the grass quality as long as the distracting shimmering is gone. if u update drivers/try all the methods and it still doesnt work, and since u said u reall ydont care about grass quality, id have to suggest raindelay7's universal grass changer, it actually made a HUGE difference for me, and it actually loks great, compared to the shimmering garbage i had before
eber
Heh...when I reformatted I had the same problem when I re-installed the game (and I still haven't fixed adjusted the settings for it--I guess it doesn't bother me so much yet). As has been said, it's most likely that you need to download updated drivers from the ATI website, or maybe even try the Omega drivers (just Google them--they offer more settings than the standard ATI drivers). But I guess if you don't want to go down that path, that grass texture fix will work. Though, I'd still recommed the getting the updated drivers for better overall system performance. jogar84
I went through the ATI website and it looks a little confusing. I have an ATI Radeon 9200 LE. can anyone point me out to a driver update? Im not sure if installing a wrong driver would mess things up.
UncleMo
4.12. try that one jogar. and by the way, i NEVER got rid of that shimmer with the ati radeon 9200 128mb card.
jogar84
really? Somehow i got rid of this problem before and i only have the 64 mb. Maybe it has something to do with the EA patches?

Im not sure if installing a wrong driver would mess things up. https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894 Go to that site. Also... You must have Microsoft .NET Framework installed prior to installing the Catalyst Control Center. Download two files from that page. The 1 of 3 download & the 2 of 3 download. Install this & you should be good to go. (you should have the AA & AF settings options after doing this)
